They are back! The Sockeye Salmon Run in Adams River in British Columbia, Canada has returned after four years. The river turns red from all the red salmon, not their blood but the red coloured backs! They stop feeding when entering freshwater and turn their body colour into olive heads and red backs. The males get a parrot kind of beak which prevents them from feeding but helps defending their females from other males! It’s a dramatic journey that ends in their death but hopefully their offsprings will continue the life cycle.
