Working hard on getting my shoulders set right in the set up so I can stay over the bar better which is really important, more so than normal perhaps, with the lower hip set up. My goal is basically to just squat the bar up, and squat down to catch it...staying within my center of balance. WRIST EXTENSION Wrist pain...a very, very common complaint in those who strength/weight train. A lot of the times the solution is simple: more mobility. But remember, mobility isn’t just about creating flexibility. It’s about normalizing joint ranges of motion as well as creating strength and control in all of those ranges of motion. If you have wrist pain, especially when your wrist is loaded into extension, the first thing to look at is your passive range of motion. Can you passively pull your wrist into at least 90 degrees of extension? If you can, that’s great, but can you also actively pull it into 90 degrees of extension? If you can’t, then you don’t have full strength and control over all of your range of motion. That means you’re likely hanging out on more of your passive-type structures (your bones/joints and ligaments) instead of using your muscles. So if you don’t have full passive range of motion in wrist extension OR full strength/active control over your wrist extension, this exercise is great for you! Give it a shot! You should only feel a stretch on the front (forearm flexor) side of your forearm. You should not feel any pinching in your any of your wrist joints. It's a sign of strength when you know your body needs to heal and while you will train, you know you should not #RX the #wod today. WOOOO WEEEE 💦 I had a talk w myself last night and got my mind right. Had ZERO excuses and came here today and GOT SHIT DONE. • Squatted 255 for 8 which was hella awesome and felt hella good. Hack squatted 3 plates which surprised me. Then finished off with some straight leg deads and FINALLY was able to adjust my feet to where I didn’t feel pain. DO NOT LET LIMITATIONS STOP YOU. . Last time I posted about how I feel front squats are superior to back squats, I got quite the response. One major thing was mobility limitations preventing the front rack position. . Well, say no more, here are the three front rack grips for you to pick from. . Position 1 is the classic Olympic front rack position, one that at times does not work for people. . Position 2 is the cross over rack, or the bodybuilders rack. This works great as a fast work around, however it will rarely feel as stable as the Olympic rack. . Position 3 is the strapped rack position. MEET RECAP: competed in my first weightlifting meet over the weekend and had a great experience. Ended up going 4/6 with a 85kg snatch and a 108kg c&j. @wclifting gave me a pep talk about how I need to get my legs stronger. So, after feeling not terrible at my top set of 4 with Front Squats I decided to push it and go up 5kg. I managed to squeeze 4 reps at 110kg/242lbs which is my best Triple. My legs are definitely getting stronger! Also, Pause At Knee Snatches from today. I preach this to my clients all the time, not everyone can do the same exercise and get the same results! Each person is built differently, with different lengths of limbs, so what works for me one way may work very differently for someone taller than me, or may be largely ineffective! But is this true? We have to look at the difference in structure of the individual. For most people, the front squat is LESS quadriceps because the distance between the knee and the load (called the "moment") actually decreases and the exercise becomes more hip dominant. This can be for several possible reasons, all based on an individuals structure and mobility.
