I’ve slowly started stretching again (don’t worry, this is an old pic!) and it feels so good. I’m being super careful to not overstretch and my range of movement is so restricted but I’m just feeling happy to be moving more each day. I tried my splits yesterday for the first time since surgery and with 30 mins of gentle warm up I got into them. Splits are def my happy place so it feels strange to have so much restriction there but all in all it was pretty comfortable considering it’s been 5 weeks since I last splitted! I’ll be @stretch_london tomorrow with @londonladybase teaching Acro 19:45-21:00. Will keep you posted for when I will resume the yoga session, it will def be in the next couple of weeks.

I am a control freak. One of those people who loves to-do lists and having their life 💯 % organized. Don't get me wrong, I am always down for an adventure. But you bet anything else in my life must be planned and under control. I think this is why I have found grad school applications so challenging. Because ultimately there is only so much I can do. I thought the wait to hearing back would not be stressful. That once I had submitted I'd settle down a bit and carry own with my research without worries. But the truth is that I have found the waiting process so far to be the most anxiety inducing. I haver never been an anxiety prone person so I lack the coping mechanisms to deal with it. I'm trying to use yoga to let go and destress but even my practice feels unsettled. How do you deal with occasional anxiety? What about stress? Will you please share your secrets with me? 😌

It’s a New Moon 🌚 and for Ashtangis, that means no practice. As much as I enjoy my Asana, I do enjoy the times that are for rest too. I have been really working hard lately and this Moon day came at just the right time. Today for #flyhighin2018 is Pincha Mayurasna or forearm balance. I have been practicing this with the wall on and off for a little while. I took this photo a few days ago. To be honest, I have said it before, I do not enjoy this pose right now. Another gorgeous day yesterday. The mosquitoes felt similarly..couldn’t keep them away! Or the dogs for that matter. I love having them around when I practice. Slip ups are normal. It’s called a practice for a good reason. Instead of getting upset or frustrated I take a moment to make them happy. For Millie that means throwing the ball. Sky wants to be loved on. Diesel wants nothing to do with me, except to congratulate him when he makes a risky maneuver through the trees. As for Phoenix, we’re still working on a relationship. He observes and startles easily. I never taught I could ever come close to grabbing my foot with a flipped grip in king pigeon because it always seems so far off. I need to dig for my initial attempts on this. While I need a lot of warm up go barely touch my toes, and this magic doesn’t happen all the time, it is slowly but surely happening.. . Whoever says that yoga doesn’t require flexibility - that’s not true. Without flexibility, you struggle a lot more in a pose versus getting the full benefits of it. It requires both flexibility and strength and that’s what I’ve been working on. Strength in my shoulders, hip flexors and I have to really start on my quads. I realize that there aren’t many quad stretches out there except King Arthur stretch, reclining hero, low lunge with quad stretch, bhekasana in a lunge. What else?. . On another note, I just listened to a podcast by Sam Harris called the science of meditation. Meditation allows a better sleep and more mindfulness during the day. I really need to get that into my daily practice. @the_spg_effect mediates daily and that’s why he’s so patient and copes very well in stressful situations. If only I could do a transformation photo of me meditating from hardly ever to daily 😂 how would that look like? Can transformation Tuesdays be more than just physical asanas and includes the other limbs of Yoga?
