15 miles with my entourage this morning (the trick is to bring them LOTS of snacks)😜 . Still got a lot of training to get in before I’m ready to run the Phoenix Marathon in February. The way I look at it, if I can run 15 miles I can run 18, and if I can run 18 I can run 20, and so on and so on, you get the idea... . HAPPY MONDAY! I’ve come to the decision that after I do my CrossFit competition in January that I’m going to sign up for a weightlifting meet next. I want to so badly improve these lifts and take more time perfecting my form. I got my first ring muscle-up a little over a month ago but hadn’t been able to do one since. Every time I tried I panicked and couldn’t commit to the turnover. So finally I decided to put the big red gymnastics mat underneath the rings, that way I’d hopefully only break one vertebrae instead of all of them if I fell 🙃 . . Apparently I was subconsciously afraid of falling on my face, because with the mat underneath, my first try was the charm. But it looked anything but charming. I literally got one arm in the dip position and somehow kicked and dragged the other side of my body up there. . . I knew the only way I was going to get both arms at the same time was if I just committed 100%. A last minute bail could not be an option. . . So I decided to try two things — One, kip once and just go for it, instead of doing a practice kip and pull first like I had been doing. Two, just fucking throw myself over. . . Ta-da, both arms arrived at the same time (ish). . . I think I forgot to tell my legs what we were attempting. I’ll clue them in next time. . . TL;DR: 1. Set yourself up for success. If something seems too scary, your brain will do everything it can to keep you from committing. Find a way to buffer that. 2. At some point, practice runs and half-attempts are no longer beneficial and they steal the energy you need to do the thing for real. Then it’s time to just do it.

A little pic from training on Friday with my girl @emlingremlin_ 💕 . I was so dead today from the weekend due to a lack of sleep and somehow still made it to the gym this afternoon. Wasn't really motivated at all but did the class and after the workout I felt so much better for it😅 Getting to the gym can be the hardest of part of training. It's so easy to go home and sit on your couch and not move after work, uni or school. Who else battled through the sleepy patch and got to the gym? Hats off to you🙌💕

Dumbbell Single Leg Hip Thrusts . You know I love hip thrusts so playing around with different modifications can be fun 🧡 . Give them a try without a dumbbell first. Since it’s one leg your foot will be closer to your midline than with a two footed hip thrust. Dip your hips and drive your non-working knee up as you thrust. Be sure to keep your hips parallel since you’re using one leg! Keeps your eyes locked forward and tuck your chin at the top! .
