Anyways, focused on #unilateral #exercises to challenge my stability particularly in my left hip / glute med. . Yesterday I started my process with doing somewhat isolated #glute activation work to assess if it's breaking down even at light weight. It seems to work relatively well so higher weight = 👆 compensation. So that was a lot of band work. Side lying hip abduction. Single leg #glutebridge with #abduction. Single leg deadlifts. #Singleleg #plyometrics. Side lunges. . So today I wanted to add more complexity to force myself to be mentally engaged. Nothing like thinking about lunch and you fall over. No room for lack of mindfulness 😂. . Front rack elevated #split #squats are a more quad dominant #variation. The elevated position combined with the front rack position increase the #stability and #core requirement. If your ankle hurts or feels uncomfortable, try using a #sandbell, #Bulgarianbag, or even putting a #hipthrust pad on the smith machine. . #Barbell single leg #deadlift. I was dying from trying to keep my body from rotating and failed. My #balance is feels off and I can't seem to find my orientation. Well that answered my own question. Neglected this stuff. . 🌉 BRIDGES 🌉 There’s not too much to say about them really other than I absolutely love them and am a little obsessed with them too... real life bridges (just ask Mike, I’m a bit of a bridge geek... they’re so pretty 🙈) and bridges of the Glute variety too as shown here. WHAT MATERIALS CAN YOU USE IF YOU DON’T HAVE ACCESS TO GYM EQUIPMENT? Earlier this week I talked about training if you do not have access to a gym. These trainings also count! It is better to do some training than to skip a training because you can’t access a gym. If for certain reasons, such as traveling for work you have less access to a gym there are materials that you can easily use to make your training challenging. Elastics are an easy tool to make your workouts challenging and also easy to take with you. They take up little space and are light weight. Good exercises to do with an elastic - glute bridges, push ups and rows. Another alternative is to use the stuff around you. For example, if you have the possibility to pick up a stone, you can use that as a weight. The most important thing is to be creative when you train outside or in your hotel room. There are more possibilities than you think. P.S. If you use an elastic band it will be that the resistance curve does not always correspond to the force curve. However, you make it difficult for yourself if you also want to take this into account. I say it's all better than doing nothing! #calisthenics #outside

Having strong glutes helps you to run more effectively, staves off injury, and improves overall daily function! The single leg glute bridge is a great drill, but often times we see it done improperly. - As you can see in the top photo, my non-working leg is kicked out straight. This makes me much more likely to arch my lower back and use my back to lift my hips off the ground, rather than my glutes. - In the second photo, you can see that by pulling the non-working knee in toward my chest, it helps to set my rib cage down, keeping my back from over-arching. This helps to target the glutes as opposed to allowing the lower back to do most of the work! - We hope this tip helps you out! Let us know if you have any questions in the comments! It’s Workout Wednesday! Santa Claus is coming to town, so this is my last video on beginner suspension trainer exercises. Today it’s the glute bridge ! Muscles worked are the glutes (butt muscles) hamstrings, core and calves. I was not able to achieve full range today due to the pressure on my heel and pain from plantar fasciitis (sorry folks!). 1 - Lie on your back with your knees bent at a 90 degree angle and feet looped through the handles and your arms by your sides. 2 - Raise your back and hips up off the floor, bringing your body into a straight line from your knees to your shoulders. • Lower your body back down to the floor and repeat. Do 3 sets with 20 seconds on the timer. Tutorial Tuesday This is an exercise progression for the Hip Bridge - simply raise your feet onto a step. Add the Hip bridge with feet raised to your home workout routine, this exercise is a progression from the Hip Bridge and is a building us towards the Hip Thrust This Hip Bridge with fee raised is great for targeting the posterior chain of the legs, your glutes (bottom) and hamstrings (back of upper leg). The glutes are an important muscle for us to strengthen as they are used for all power movement of the lower body – jumping, running, sprinting. Muscles targeted: glutes, hamstring, core Technique Tips: Avoid pushing the hips to high, all you need is straight line between the knees, hips and shoulders. Best een gek idee eigenlijk, dat aan het begin van dit decennium de hip thrust een vreemde eend in de gym was. De squat was nog de zogenaamde "king of booty" en de kussentjes werden louter gebruikt om ze in je nek te leggen voor mensen die geen idee hebben hoe ze een stang in de nek moeten leggen 😊. • Toen ik deze oefening jaren geleden introduceerde in m'n gym, kon ik daar wel van genieten. Ik moest mensen overtuigen dat deze superawkward beweging toch écht goed voor de billen was. "Gewoon geen oogcontact maken, dan is er niks aan de hand" 😉. Wanneer ze de eerstvolgende keer in de gym kwamen, waren ze echter wel overtuigd. Eindelijk voelden ze de billen een keer écht! "Wat heb je me aangedaan met 'die ene oefening'🍑!" • Tegenwoordig is de hip thrust niet meer weg te denken uit elke gym. Het is inmiddels meer regel dan uitzondering dat je een stang ligt te humpen. Goddank hoef je daarom niet meer te rekenen op twintig wtf-blikken in je richting wanneer je de stang ter heup neemt. Hip thrusts zijn hier om te blijven... en daar mag elke rondebilliefhebber maar al te dankbaar voor zijn 😄🎈! • Houden jullie ook zo van hip thrusts? Sumo deadlifts and glute bridge on Smith machine. Sumo deadlifts are a great compound exercise, so I do these first while my muscles are not fatigued and can handle some heavy weight! Performed in a wide stance, feet facing outwards. Pushing through the heels and squeeze your glutes at the top. ❗️Keep in mind to not lean too much forward when at the top, because that will burden your lower back. Glute bridge on smith machine is just a good isolation exercise. Usually I do hip thrusts but I’ll give those some rest for a month or so and do glute bridge instead. SINGLE LEG GLUTE BRIDGE Most people have under Developed glutes and hamstrings from sitting down too much and just not engaging in activity that emphasis those muscles. Both these muscle groups are used in locomotion but they are especially important during athletic movements. Sprinting, jumping, bounding, and rapidly changing direction, are all movements that rely on the strength of the hamstrings and the glutes. If this variation is too challenging go ahead and put both feet firmly on the ground. Then continue to raise your hips off the ground. Let me know how it went in the comments!
