Outliers generally sit at the extreme end on the ‘bell’ curve. There are very few of them, and we can learn a lot from them if we’re open minded enough. . In the nutrition world, there are many outliers who have pushed the boundaries on what is ‘normal’. One such person who I am fascinated in watching at the moment is Dr @shawnbaker1967. I first came across him after he did a podcast with @joerogan, and I’ve been following him ever since. He is a 50 year old Orthopaedic surgeon by trade, who didn’t want to become one of the patients he’s sees regularly. So he addressed his diet. First he went #paleo then #keto he also tried #carbnight then became a zero carb #carnivore. He eats only meat, primarily beef, and he’s thriving. Yep that’s right, he only eats steak. . For some people he would be so out there that to even consider the way he eats would be too much. I have to admit I was initially one of those people when I first heard about him (and he’s definitely not the only one out there eating this way). Surely you couldn’t be getting all you need from just meat? Wouldn’t you get bored? Can’t imagine it being sustainable forever? . But if you’re going to be open minded about nutrition, you can’t just be open minded to the things that are comfortable. It’s the things that make us uncomfortable that teach us the most. Babies, toddlers, and kids need a lot of the omega-3 fatty acids found in fish for brain, nerve, and eye development. We try to aim for wild caught fish at least once a week. Plus, this meal was done in 20 minutes. Healthy food can be easy and yummy. *This is my 2 year olds plate (and yes he ate it all). It’s no secret that nourish bowls are one of my favourite meals. I have them numerous times throughout the week. Either for breakfast, lunch or dinner. I follow one basic rule; small portion of starchy foods/carbs (sweet potato, pumpkin, quinoa, chickpeas), good source of c o m p l e t e protein (fish, quinoa, eggs, chicken) a generous amount of healthy fats (avocado, olive oil, eggs, nuts + seeds) and finally lots of micro nutrients from plants (leafy greens, broccoli, cabbage, herbs, citrus fruits etc). This is a great way to use up leftovers and random bits and pieces you have left in the fridge at the end of the week 😉 . ⭐️If you have some on hand, add a tablespoon of sauerkraut or any other fermented foods to support your beneficial gut flora ⭐️

Granola recipes ARE for the faint hearted. They’re easy to make and even easier to eat. I came up with this grain-free granola after my significant other had a spurt of stomach problems where we realized he couldn’t process many carbohydrates. He’s lucky in that I’m a lunatic for troubleshooting food conundrums and become hyper-creative in the kitchen. After a few different flavor combinations, this has become our favorite. It satisfy’s that chocolate sweet spot in the process... And I can testify as a non-food sensitivity person, as in, I have a cast iron stomach, that it’s my favorite granola by choice! 💯 _______________________________________________________ 🍒Recipe🍒 Dry Ingredients: 1 cup dry unsweetened coconut flakes 1 cup raw walnuts pieces 1/2 cup raw sunflower seeds 1/3 cup flaxseeds 1/3 cup raw slivered almonds 1/2 cup raw cocoa nibs 5 dried figs /small cubed Wet Ingredients: 1 packet of stevia 1 1/2 tbsp coconut oil melted 1 tsp vanilla extract 1 tsp coffee 2 tsp almond butter Preheat oven to 325F. Combine all dry ingredients in a large bowl and set aside. Combine all wet ingredients then drizzle over dry ingredients and mix well. Let mixture sit for 10 minutes. Spread over a sheet tray. Steak ❤️ my favorite food and easiest thing to order out at a restaurant! What questions do you call and ask before eating out? I always glance at the menu and call before dining out with specific questions. Some of my go to’s are “what oils do you use? What spices/seasonings? Do you pre-marinade the meat?” I don’t tolerate garlic or onions, so that can be an extra barrier when dining out. My favorite is when I get a server who is knowledgeable about the menu and is reassuring and accommodating 👌👌

SWEET POTATO FUDGE BROWNIES 🍫🍠🤤 these are sweet yet low in sugar, delicious af, Fudgey and thick. Basically heaven. They are pretty easy to make too. 🤤 1 c almond flour 1/4 c tapioca flour 1/2 c cacao powder 1/2 t baking soda 1/2 c peanut or almond butter 2 c sweet potato purée 2 flax eggs 1/4 c maple syrup 2 t vanilla 1/4 c dark chocolate chips Mix all wet ingredients together, then add in dry. Mix well using a stand mixer. Bake at 350 for about 30 minutes until a fork comes out clean! Store in the fridge. Serve alone or topped with your favorite nut butters 😋 #naturallychelsrecipe

Keto Meal- steak and chicken tacos. We each had one head of butter lettuce. I had a small chopped tomato with my steak. Hubs had two- three tlbs of pico de gallo with each of his tacos. ChocoNana Bread with some creamy almond butter. Full of healthy fats and the “relaxer" mineral: MAGNESIUM. . . Ingredients: • 2 pasture raised eggs • 3 organic bananas (ripe) • 4 Tbsp organic extra virgin coconut oil (melted) • Tbsp baking powder • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract • tsp organic cinnamon • 1/2 cup of cacao powder • 1/4 cup of organic grade B maple syrup (use lakanto maple syrup for sugar free version) • 2 cups almond meal . Make it: 1. Preheat oven to 350. 2. In a food processor or mixing bowl add eggs, bananas, coconut oil, baking powder, vanilla extract,cinnamon & maple syrup. Process for 30 seconds. 3. Next add the cacao powder and almond meal and process for 30 seconds. 4. Grease a loaf pan with coconut oil and then pour mixture into it. 5. Bake for 40 to 50 mintutes. Check middle with fork to see if done. 6. Remove from oven and let cool for 30 minutes. 7. I’m so hooked on these free-form blueberry muffins. They’re grain-, gluten-, and sugar-free and are filled with good fiber and protein. The only way you know the difference is that you feel great and satiated after eating them and not sluggish and weirdly hungry. Recipe: > 1 C Almond Flour > 1/2 C Coconut Flour > 1/3 to 1/2 C Powdered @zsweetallnatural (depending on how sweet you want them) > 4 tsp Finely Ground Psyllium Husk > 1 tsp Baking Soda > 1 tsp Salt > 4 large pastured eggs > 1 C hot water > 4 Tb of ghee, melted butter, coconut or avocado oil > 2 tsp vanilla extract > 1/2 C organic small frozen blueberries 1. Preheat the oven to 350 2. Combine the dry ingredients 3. Whisk the eggs and then add to the dry ingredients, fold until somewhat combined. 4. Add the fat, fold, and then 1/2 of the water (I just add the vanilla to the water) , combine, then the other half of the water, combine 5. Fold in the blueberries 6. Using a 1/3 C measuring cup, scoop the batter and place on a parchment or Silpat lined baking sheet 7. Bake at 359 for 25-30 minutes Yield: about 10 biscuits Keep on the counter until you eat them all!

Spaghetti squash latkes 😍 tonight’s dinner is simple salad with spinach, avocado, peppers, olives, Tessemae’s ranch dressing, and tuna, paired with a side of fried spaghetti squash latkes 👋🏻 all you do it take the contents of a freshly roasted squash, pat dry the squash, toss into a mixing bowl with salt/pepper/ egg/parley/caramelized onions/almond meal and stir. Then you form small ball and fry them up in a big pan of coconut oil. 💪🏻❤️MY RELATIONSHIP with FITNESS There used to be days when I would force myself to workout for 1 hour a day. I had major guilt and anxiety if I didn’t. I abused caffeine to make it through. Paleo Hot Chocolate: In a mug place 1 date and cocoa powder truffle and 3 squares of @zazubean Paleo dark chocolate. Pour hot water over and mix until dissolved.
