Rainy afternoons are perfect for baking, don’t you agree? Today it’s a batch of 🍪CLASSIC CHOCOLATE CHIP 🍪 which have that tollhouse taste even though they are #glutenfree, vegan. I’ve even included options to make them grain free and paleo if that’s your thing! I like to play with the formula with whatever flour/sweetener that I have on hand on rainy afternoons like this. The key is adding enough chocolate chips that no one even notices that they are #healthyish 😉 How do you spend your rainy afternoons? ☔️ . CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES (GF, VG, #grainfree option) 1 cup gluten free flour blend containing xanthan gum (1 used @bobsredmill 1:1), OR 3/4 cup quinoa flour for a paleo +/or grain-free option 1/2 tsp baking soda 1 tsp baking powder 2 chia eggs 3 Tbsp coconut sugar 1/4 cup maple syrup or coconut nectar 1 tsp vanilla extract or powder 1/4 cup neutral flavored oil 3/4 cup dairy free chocolate chips Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper. Make chia egg replacer by mixing 1 tsp ground chia seeds with 2 tsp warm water in a small bowl and set aside. *If you are making these grain free with quinoa or amaranth flour, or a blend of both, then make an extra chia egg to help bind the cookie dough! Combine all dry ingredients in a large bowl. Combine wet in a medium bowl and then add to dry along with chia egg/s. Mix until just combined and stir in chocolate chips. Scoop by rounded tablespoons onto prepared cookie sheets, leaving space for them to spread a bit. Bake for 10-12 minutes until bottoms are just beginning to brown. Si l’on ne dispose pas d un spiralizer, un économe ou une mandoline suffit à tailler des tagliatelles. Our allergy experience started when Lily was only 14 months. Now she's 8 and has become such a trooper with unknown food! Praise the Lord, seriously! Of course there are times when she gets a little down, like any child would who's had their whole world turned around from food allergies. One of the most important things for our sweet babies to understand, is that these ailments are not their fault! These ailments do not define them, nor do they dictate the enjoyment they can find in their lives. They simply give us new opportunities to grow. These ailments are not a burden on our family and they do not make life harder (they just stretch us a little more) and I hope we are all aware of how we come across to our allergy fighting littles! I was at a loss when we found out {within the last couple of weeks} that Lily is now allergic to all of the foods mentioned in my very first post. Last night after the girls went to bed, I hit the road and went to Sprouts to search for those odd flours hardly anyone knows about! I was pleasantly surprised to find several of the flours I was hoping for. These little muffins, which I am affectionately calling the "Little Brown Muffin's" are made with Teff flour, Quinoa flour, Golden Flax and Egg Replacer to name a few. My batch made 9, so that means that I have at least nine breakfasts already prepared. If you're a foodie like me, you're seeing the roasted carrots EVERYWHERE. I had to see what all the hype was about! This recipe is one for the cookbooks! 😍 I never knew carrots could taste this good. Especially with my homemade amba tahini drizzled over the top. Guys. Trust me. Make this. NOW. 👇🏻 INGREDIENTS 8-10 same size carrots, peeled 2 tablespoons olive oil AMBA TAHINI: 1/3 cup @seedandmill sesame paste 1 1/2 teaspoons lime/lemon juice 1/4 cup water (add more to thin out) 1/4 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon cumin 1/2 teaspoon turmeric 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder 1/4 teaspoon paprika 1/4 teaspoon sumac (optional) 1. Roast the carrots for 25-30 minutes on 450° until softened and slightly charred. 2. Whisk the tahini ingredients together. 3. Once the carrots are cooked, allow to cool and top with tahini. Best served at room temperature.

Like is it really necessary to re-color code my apps, bookmark 72 potential job applications, vacuum my room, and google how and why Paris Jackson and Paris Hilton are somehow bffs (v intriguing backstory if you were wondering, Kathy and Michael and LaToya were bffs since they were 13 and made a pact to name their first children Prince and Paris and so Kathy had kids and actually did it and then Michael was like ok well guess I’m doing it too and then LaToya only had dogs sooo she named her dogs Paris and Prince lol) ok but anyways u get the point, no those things aren’t necessary but clearly that didn’t stop me! Le sigh. Senioritis is the most REAL issue ever and I need someone w a cure pls & ty. Gonna go reorganize my nail polish collection or something now. I am an insufferable human bean. I frosted it with cinnamon vegan buttercream, it’s friendly for breast feeding mommas that are avoiding dairy, it is also palm oil free. Why no #palmoil? The palm oil industry is linked to large issues such as habitat degradation, deforestation, climate change, animal cruelty and indigenous rights abuses in the countries where it is produced, as the land and forests must be burned and cleared for the development of oil palm plantations. There is a movement in “sustainable palm”, but the criteria are so weak and enforcement so lax that “sustainable” no longer has meaning. || #treatswithapurpose

I would definitely chose the meal on the right... great post by @the_fitness_dietitian heres what she had to say..: WOULD YOU CHOOSE THE CALORIES OR THE VOLUME?!? These two pictures illustrate the same calories but very different AMOUNTS of food 🙊 Same calories BUT 4 x the volume on the right! . . People always assume that smoothies are a ‘healthy’ option or a good weight loss option so I felt it was an important topic to chat to you guys about! I bought this smoothie from my local shopping centre from a very popular ‘smoothie shop’. The smoothie was marketed as a “protein supreme superfood smoothie” - honestly the only thing that was ‘super’ about it was the amount of calories it packed into one glass!!! The smoothie contained coconut water, coconut oil, honey, dates, whey protein, banana, berries, chia seeds and muesli - all delicious but also calorie dense - especially in large amounts . . Calorie dense foods are NOT bad for you! They can be a convenient way to snack when you're on the go or you’re trying to gain weight but... in my experience they can be easy to overeat & can easily lead to unwanted weight gain . . For the majority of my clients, I prefer the right picture - the increased volume helps people to eat slower & fill them up, reduces feelings of deprivation or under eating & also helps people to realise when they are full and to stop eating a lot sooner than a liquid based meal would 😜 . . I’m not saying that smoothies are bad or that salads are good. I’m simply pointing out that you need to be mindful of the amount of energy in your food & aim to find out what works for you & your lifestyle 🙌🏼 I hope you enjoyed this little wisdom bomb ♥ . What a week! I loved talking to the employees at both Alliance Bernstein and Atrium Staffing about going gluten free. It can be an adjustment but well worth it in the end. Gluten sensitivity/intolerance is linked to over 200 different diseases. I know personally how much damage gluten can do. Luckily cutting out gluten (meaning all grains) helps tremendously.

It’s been awhile since I posted my go-to work lunch, a smorgasbord of delicious finger foods! P: 2 oz turkey summer sausage + 1 oz sliced cheese. Fa: .5 oz sunflower seeds. Fr: 6 oz pineapple (this varies seasonally). V: 8 oz baby carrots, baby cucumbers, and baby pickles! (haha, no baby theme on purpose, I just love these!). Recipe: Plantain Bread Ok guys! Here is the recipe I teased with a couple of weeks ago. Super scrumptious plantain bread! Here I topped it with poppy seeds but I’ve also done “everything but the bagel” seasoning before. A mix of seeds would also be super delicious no doubt!! How do you like your bread? 🤤 . For my kids I like to top it with homemade liver pate for their breakfast - having this plantain bread is a great way of getting some of that nutrient dense yumminess into them! And they love it! . 3 plantains (a mix of green and yellow is great) peeled and cut into smaller pieces 1 cup canned coconut milk 1.5 cup almond flour 1 cup tapioca starch (a little bit less if your plantains are all on the greener side) 2 tbsp avocado oil 1 tsp baking soda 1/2 tbsp apple cider vinegar 1 tsp salt Optional: top with whatever takes your fancy. Poppy seeds are used in this photo! 🍞 Preheat oven to 400F. Line a 8.5x4.5” loaf tin with parchment paper. In a food processor/blender, blend plantains and coconut milk until smooth. Add plantain batter to a large bowl and add in almond flour, tapioca starch, avocado oil and salt. Mix well. Add baking soda and apple cider vinegar and fold well into batter. Dough will seem very soft and sticky (not at all like regular wheat dough). Add to your load tin and top with chosen topping or leave plain. Bake in oven for about 45-50 minutes until it has risen well and is golden brown. Touchdown in Cape Town! ✈️📍feels good to be back in my hood and visiting all my local places again 👀 because I currently live on an island, we don’t have access to special health products or wellness brands, so I was in my element today browsing the aisles of my favourite health store here in South Africa 😍 like a kid in a candy shop... or a happy foodie in a health store 😂🤸🏽‍♀️ the food grams are going to be good in the next few weeks because SA’s food game is amazing 😏 this is my absolute FAVOURITE smoothie that I’ve ever drank, like... ever. Used to get one a few times each month but since moving haven’t enjoyed this lil treat in ages and have been craving it for months 😍 it contains blueberries, banana, heaps of creamy almond butter, hemp protein, chia seeds and coconut water 🤤🤤 it’s so thick and delicious and pretty much what dreams are made of 💆🏽‍♀️ on another note, I did a grocery shop today and found the prices so much better here than back on the island. I was thinking, would you guys like a post on how to make healthy, cheap meals on a budget? Because of different countries and currencies, I’m not sure what you guys consider a good price for a grocery haul, but please leave me a comment or pop me a DM about your ‘goal’ for what you’d like to spend on groceries in a week so I have a frame of reference, and I’ll compile a list of tips and tricks on how to get the most bang for your buck! Healthy eating gets a bad reputation for being too expensive (which it can be!) but I’ve found some clever ways to make mine incredibly budget-friendly, yet still super healthy!
