An intricate part of our mission at the Africa Expo is to turn our learning and connection building into action that makes us all better citizens. We are happy to partner with @umcabundanthealth , a department of Global Ministries, a faith based agency responsible for service and development worldwide to share opportunities to support health initiatives in Africa and the diaspora ( including the United States) . The staff states, “Although we have a network of partners from across the globe, the African region has the largest representation in Global Health activities. Global Health programs funded in Africa include, malaria prevention and control, maternal and child health and hospital systems strengthening all with the aim of creating abundant health for all with an emphasis on preventing disease and young children under the age of 5.
Locally the African Diaspora can be involved through setting up preventative health programs within their community that encourage physical, mental and emotional. This can be done through providing healthy meals at community events, establishing community gardens and hosting farmers markets. The African diaspora community can also participate through hosting physical activities at various community gatherings as well as encouraging preventative health and wellness checkup within our community that is disproportionately affected with chronic diseases such as heart disease and diabetes . Come to the expo and meet this dynamic organization that will connect you to and inspire you to begin your own health initiatives in and for your community . . #publichealth #faithinaction #blackhealthmatters #UMC #dosomething #imaginenomalaria #healthyeating #growingourownfood #preventioneducation
