What’s your #dosha?☝🏼 . . I got interested in Ayurveda (The sister science of yoga) because there are some easy ways to incorporate it into your modern life. . It’s sad that I shunned it for so many years thinking that Cornell Columbia Harvard etc. had better answers to our health woes.😃 . Let me give you an easy example of how knowing your dosha could help you – my daughter is a true vata. She definitely has “air” like qualities - she is energetic, hyper and when off balance gets anxious and restless. . Actually this is my predominant dosha as well. . For her – doing yoga has been really great to balance this. The earthing qualities of Yoga – the teachings of Yoga to sit still and keep your mind still is really beneficial for her. . By contrast my son is a predominant kapha. He does better with organized activities - If he doesn’t have a lot of activities planned he tends to be on the relaxed lazier side. . I can usually meet a person and asked him a couple questions and know their predominate Dosha. . let’s just let go of this whole idea of “deprivation” ok? 🤯 I was just doing my usual treadmill walk/IG scroll, and I overheard a conversation between two women who were struggling through 1200 calorie diets. this example of diet culture breaks my heart!💔 how are you able to get in all the nutrients you need in that little of calories?! . trust me, I have been here. I have learned this. it never works long term. your body will eventually adapt to this small calorie window, and your body will scream at you to EAAAT as you have probably been depriving it of healthy vitamins & minerals. as a result this usually ends up leading to yoyo dieting & binge eating . instead of punishing your body through crash diets, try shifting your focus to the long game. healthy, sustainable fat loss takes time, patience and possibly most importantly, kindness🙏 . love your body, eat whole foods & the rest will follow💕 who’s with me?!

during the time when i was most strict with my food intake, i NEVER touched sweets. like, ever. i prided myself on being so disciplined. like i was winning at this whole weight loss/healthy thing because i had the ability to say no. it got to the point where it didn’t even bother me saying no, it’s just how it was. i was so far removed from the simple joys of life. . . fast forward a year or so, when i started to get more open to the idea of recovery. i started eating more and more foods that i had labeled as off-limits for so long. this quickly turned into an unhealthy tendency on the other end of the spectrum - whenever i ate sweets, i was completely obsessed and felt out of control. the guilt i felt afterwards consumed me because i had just “messed up” or “lost my will-power.” this continued for ~3 years. . . it wasn’t until recently when i dropped ALL food rules that i now have a good relationship with sweets (and all other foods for that matter.) yes, i still have a sweet tooth and eat a little something every day. but without the guilt. without the binging. without restricting the next day. my body now knows that i’m not going to disrespect it and deprive it anymore, so it’s respecting me right back. i can enjoy the simple joys of life again, like cookies 👆🏻🍪 #foodfreedom #ditchthediet

We didn't have that big dream wedding. We didn't have a year to plan. I didn't get a puffy white dress, I had no aisle to walk down, and we weren't surrounded by friends and family. It was just us and an officiant. . We booked a tiny chapel in Arkansas and ran off one weekend to get hitched. City Hall opened up on a Saturday just to sign out marriage license. We stopped by a gourmet hot dog shop to eat before we got married. After, we drove around the mountainous the area in silence, breathing in this new world we were conquering together. And then we broke the silence when we went to Walmart to get car paint to write “just married” on my car lol. . You see, we were the opposite of traditional. We met on November 1, 2015, started dating November 19, and got married on March 19, 2016 -- fewer than five months of knowing each other. Only close friends and family knew we were dating, let alone getting married. And a lot of those who did know told us we were making a mistake. I mean, how can you really know someone in that short if a time span? And I get it…. I really do. It seemed crazy to people who didn't truly know what was going on. To anyone who didn't know how long and hard I had prayed over my future husband, only to know exactly who that future husband was as soon as he walked into church that day. (I literally turned to my friend and said, “I'm gonna marry him one day.”) We've been married for over two and a half years now. We have both gone through the hardest times of our lives together. We've stressed and screamed and cried, and we've apologized and prayed and forgiven. . The point is, marriages aren't dependant on time spent together. Marriages are dependant on the accreditation given to God. Meeting Andrew was a “God thing” if there ever was one. God's love isn't conventional, so why would we expect the love He gives us for others to look conventional? . When you know, you know, and God made sure we knew.

Been listening to “Hell on Heels” (@pistolannies) on repeat this week to keep my positive outlook on my latest health ‘hiccup’—and it makes me feel as sorts of sassy lady boss 🔥👠.... despite the fact I almost shit my pants on the way to a huge photoshoot last week 😳 #thetruthaintpretty . People always ask me how I remain positive through things like bloody UC flares. Well, at first I literally “LOL” because every positive breakthrough comes after a GIANT snot-filled crying breakdown. But I’ve learned how to get my mental state back in the game pretty quickly now. . One thing I do is listen to music constantly. I feel music SO deeply. So I put on a playlist that makes me feel strong and empowered (thank you, @beyonce). And I force myself to sing along and really get into each song. (I sang so loud the other day I scared the 💩out of Lillie sleeping next to me on the couch😂). . I also repeat my personal montra over and over again, “NOTHING can break me.” And I truly believe that—and that’s why it’s been so effective for me. No person, no illness, no unfortunate circumstance—nothing can actually break me. I may crack—I’m only human—but you bet your sweet ass I’m trudging on. . How do you deal with healing and travel? Vacation used to wreck my path. It was an excuse to go off roading for what I considered temporary normalcy. Back when I was grasping at unrealistic versions of what is customary or desirable. Holding on to my former self. A momentary respite of “real” life. What everyone else gets to do. I'd allow myself minimal amounts of wine or beer, gluten or dairy, etc. Although it was “rare”, I subconsciously reinforced these cheats as winners. Even when they pummeled me. At some point, recently, finally –– they became the loser. It’s not easy. I’m not perfect. To the untrained eye this may scream perfectionism. But this is my precious fucking life we're talking on. Now off path looks like this. Raw food bliss or some cooked potatoes and vegan sauces. Seeds and nuts and food combos that won’t exactly sit well with me. Maybe it’s a downgraded model of the former habit. But nutrient-dense healing foods serve me in the long run. Healing is fluid. Life is fluid. I find bits of golden fluidity now in what may look rigid to those floating peering- well-meaning into shed layers of my past pains

🌰 ACTIVATE 🌰 . . . Whipping up another batch of activated nuts! This time I did pecans and peanuts 😋 They were long soaking yesterday, and slow drying over night. I have been experimenting with creating homemade peanut butter using the activated nut as they are easier to digest. But I can't seem to get the smooth consistency that I want, and I'm too scared that if I keep my food processor on for too long she will die on me 😂 Maybe when I can afford a super duper one, will I be able to create my oh so desired activated nut butters 🤗 . . . Have you got a great recommendation for a food processor?! . . .

I've been getting ready for dinner party season 🥂 I will be hosting my very first dinner party in my house, which means it will be the first time using the dining room 🙌🏼 (4 months after moving in 😅) . . . I've just randomly placed things in baskets under the console table for now, so I will probably rejig those before my first official dinner party in 10 days. I also have a couple of pictures I'm hoping to get up on the wall before then. . . . There are so many things you don't think about though when it's just you eating. Have I got enough place mats?! Should I use plates or bowls?! What glasses should I use? Should I have a centrepiece?! Buffet style food or plated food?! And the all important question what should I cook to show off my culinary genius?! 🤣🤣 No pressure! I think I'll rope mum in to help 😇 . . .

💓 Happy Tuesday Darlings 💓 . . . I have got so many things to do, and so many lists, that the gym is having to take a back seat once again. When I'm there I think about all the work I've got to do and when I'm working I'm thinking Ooo, it would be good to train today 😅 Do you have that conversation with yourself?! For the next few months I have got to give my work 100% but hopefully I can squeeze a few workouts in once I've got the majority of my to-do list under control! . . . I also feel like I've forgotten how to dress for colder weather 😂⛄ But you can't go wrong with some Christmassy socks 🐧❤ . . .
