Let me tell you what this does NOT mean. ➡️ We don't need to have a perfect relationship with ourselves in order to have a healthy relationship with food. We can still be human and make mistakes and not know what we need and not know what we want to do with our lives or how to deal with pain or how to be lonely. 🙇 •
However... ➡️ It does mean that every time we make a food promise or tell ourselves we won't eat this or do that again, every time we start a new food plan or try to control ourselves and fail, we damage our relationship with ourselves. •
We lose trust in ourself and feel guilty and frustrated and pissed off that we can't just do what we say. That relationship with self and food gets worn down so that we don't trust, believe, feel worthy or feel capable that we can actually change. •
And so, we turn back to food where we think there's some answer to our desires, some relief from anxiety and stress, some pleasure. 🔁 And so it goes around.
I get it. I thought it was just me. But now I know it's totally natural. And in order to get ourselves out of this circle, we have to understand what we're dealing with from an intellectual level. •
You have to understand WHY you feel the way you do and WHY food will always sound like a 'yes'. You also have to rebuild the trust with yourself and stop blaming yourself for this thing that actually has little to do with YOU. •
If you're struggling today, be compassionate. You don't know what you don't know. Let go of the blame and go do something nurturing for you. You deserve it. What you're struggling with is hard. .
