Hampi - The Grandeur of a forgotten Empire Hampi, also referred as the ‘Group of Monuments’, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in east-central Karnataka, India. It became the centre of the Hindu Vijayanagara Capital in the 14th century. The magnificent ruins of Hampi dot an unearthly landscape that has captivated travelers for centuries. Heaps of giant boulders perch precariously over kilometers of undulating terrain, their rusty hues offset by jade-green palm groves, banana plantations and paddy fields. ‘A Forgotten Empire’ by Robert Sewell is an interesting book which describes the rise and fall of the Vijayanagar Empire. Before the fall of Vijayanagara, diamonds were sold on the streets, but the main street selling diamonds and other precious stones was surprisingly called Pan Supaari Street (translated in English, it means betel-leaf betel-nut street). A visitor can still see the exact location of Pan Supaari Street in Hampi, which has been marked with a board by the Archaeological Survey of India. Hampi is well worth the visit. The area is simply stunning and you will be in awe of the millions of boulders surrounding the area. Within this arid landscape lies a little oasis with lush palm, banana, and mango trees nestled near the river. Hampi is a great place to spend a few days wandering around and discovering the rich and vibrant history. Hampi hosts ‘Hampi Utsav’ every year during first week of November. It is a visual delight as all the monuments/ruins are lit at night and it is a cultural extravaganza of dance and music. #Hampi, #Vijayanagara, #VirupakshaTemple, #VithalaTemple, #HampiBazaar, #QueensBath, #LotusPalace, #MatangaHill, #MonolithBull, #ZenanaEnclosure, #DarojiBearSanctuary, #BigShivlinga, #LakshmiNarasimhaTemple, #MonkeyTemple, #HemakutaHillTempleComplex, #AchyutrayaTemple, #MahanavamiDibba, #Archaeological Museum, #HazaraRamaTemple, #AnegudiVillage For enquiries visit: www.alifetimetrip.com/enquiry-form

I dressed up like this as it was supposed to be a rest day with just little shopping to be done in the evening at the famous #hampibazaar but ...No my hubby decided to take us on an adventure trip and.... off we went.. (Pic 2: clockwise from top left) 1)to the iron age caves 2) Lakshmi temple, which we bowed to only from outside for as per the plan we had to head left, climb rocks to overlook #Pampa lake, next crawl through #caves downward to go see to a #snakemound (about 10ft tall) 3)visit #valicave (where Vali fought demon Mayaavi) 4)sit in #coracleboat , get off on #rocks in the middle of the #river, climb up n slide down rocks to see #kotilinga Phew! I loved this day ❤️ #hampidiaries #adventure #adventurous #dayout #adventurousday #daytoremember #busyday

Aren't we always looking forward to or back at something, often forgetting the moment, the present that we are in? . This weekend we did only the things that we felt like doing in the moment. Curbed our FOMOs and often took a step back and made peace with ourselves if we couldn't do something, like Komal kept saying, 'It's okay, we'll come back to see that the next time' . . . #doyouwannahampi #komikstrips #incredibleindia #hampi #condenasttraveler #incredibleindia #india #virupakshatemple #hampibazaar

Kadale kalu meaning gram seed in Kannada lang. Carved out of a boulder this huge idol of Kadale Kalu Ganesha is eye catching. Pillars surrounding this idol are very well sculpted portraying the daily life of a common man, gods and goddess. @oneplus @oneplus_india #shotononeplus #oneplus5t #karnataka #karnataka_ig #karnatakatravel #kadalekaluganesha #hampibazaar #hampidiaries #hampi #virupakshatemple #mandapam #indian #incredibleindia #travel #outofthecubicle #igers #_soi #travelcommunity #travelbloggers #instapassport #letsgoeverywhere #bagbackersstory #travelphotography #Day 3

One of the most attractive places of the bygone age was Hampi bazaar. Stretched over more than one kilometer this place was the centre of blooming trade. The series of old pavilion standing still is the proof of its well-planned and organized structure.
