Do you want to know my darkest secret? Alright, hold your hat! This is going to be intense... I am 21-years old and haven't read or watched the Harry Potter books/movies yet. 😱 I know, it is kind of incredible. 😂 I really have no clue how that hype went through me but I somehow never picked up the books or bothered to watch the movie! 🤔 I am now trying to make up for my childhood mistake of not reading the books. But why? I’m not a cow! 🐄 Won’t my digestive system do the rest? Not quite! . . Mechanical digestion, adequate chewing of your food, helps you physically break down foods and also help to mix the food with saliva which contain digestive enzymes (called amylase) to help the food also begin to chemically break down. . . While we are chewing, we are giving time for our brain to send signals to our stomach and other digestive organs to begin to secrete digestive juices (ew but whatever, we need them lol). . Remember, we need to break our foods down to single amino acids, molecules or small clusters of molecules. If we don’t break our food down all the way, our body will NOT ABSORB THE NUTRIENTS and even worse, our body interprets these chunks of undigested foods as foreign invaders. If we have a leaky gut, these bigger particles can seep out causing a further immune response potentially leading to inflammation (anywhere in the body and/or systemically) as well as food sensitivities. . You should not see undigested food particles when you go to the bathroom so use that as one indicator of how well you are chewing 💩 . Also, don’t underestimate being in a calm relaxed state when you’re eating either. If your body is in fight or flight mode, from even something as simple as checking your Instagram while eating, you are preventing your body from secreting HCL and other digestive substances and this can also impair your digestion just as much as not chewing! . . It’s a hard habit to create but considering it’s free and so important, I urge you to challenge yourself to MINDFULLY CHEW your food! Let me know if this makes a difference in your digestion! This post is not about skinny being better or fat being bad. Neither is true. HEALTH is my only goal here! In November I remember sitting in my bed barely being able to move because it hurt. Everything hurt. I didn’t want to be physically held back from doing the things I love because my body couldn’t handle it. So, I made little changes. I started eating less and less “food” from a box. I was conscious about what I was putting into my body. I started drinking more water. Lately I have changed up my sleeping routine and started going to bed at a decent hour. Small steps. I’ll be honest, I never thought this was possible until it wasn’t a choice anymore. Being diagnosed with #endometriosis really opened my eyes to my lifestyle and showing me what I needed to change to live a better life. Everyday isn’t perfect. It’s a great way to think about your physical sensation and mood as it pertains to hunger. Being more aware of hunger can help you: ⠀ 🔺manage portion sizes 🔺control emotional eating 🔺understand when to stop eating 🔺recognize your personal hunger cues ⠀ 🧠In order to lose weight, being mindful and eating slowly is needed to tune in and recognize the signs of fullness. ⠀ 🍴You should practice trying to eliminate hunger, NOT chase fullness. I made the mistake of chasing fullness for the first part of my dieting life and when I made the switch, I noticed a big change in my body. In other words, on the chart, the goal should be numbers 5-6. Ideally, you should feel as though you could workout an hour later without discomfort. ⠀ ❌Zones 1-3: Try to stay out of these zones to avoid binging, overeating, or becoming ravenous or lightheaded. ✅Zones 4-7: The sweet spot of fullness. 🎀 No one said it was going to be easy to get on this journey. No one promised me any success. You put in the time and you put in the dedication... that is the reflection of your success. I made changes in my life for elevation. I took some things out and added some things in (can’t go forward with a ball and chain). . Sometimes people will look at you like they know you, maybe they know the old you. Sometimes people looks at you like “HAHA this is a funny journey, we’ll see how far they get this time.” Sometimes they can’t stand to look at you except with envy for making positive changes. BUT THAT’S OKAY!! 👌🏼 Don’t look back at them, look FORWARD. Press on boo! . I thank God every single day for just one more day... my gratitude is small in comparison to how I’ve been blessed with opportunities and yet have had the right doors closed. I get to spend time with my family, my pups, and hubby. The flexibility of travel. I know my time on earth is limited so I choose to spend it wisely. My biggest goal is not to continue slaving away my time for someone else’s success 💰, quality of life 🌴, or even their own time ⏱. There is never going to be a perfect time to make the change for your own success so do it whenever you get that glimmer ✨ of hope!

We have all read the studies on how good fruits & veggies are the best for both disease prevention and healing. When I say I'm Anti-Diet. . I finished my 8 week program and need to take my ‘after photos.’ But... I need someone else to do it, we’ve been busy, I refuse to take them in the late day or night, and well... girl stuff... #bloated. . Then I was scrolling some groups I’m in and saw some requests and questions and it got my mind going... so forgive me, but sorta long post... . As an online fitness coach it’s my job to show up and be proof that these programs work, share products that I truthfully use and what I think of them. It’s my job to connect people with programs and products that I think they might like based on who they are, what they tell me they like, etc. it’s my job to share my feedback on programs, give you highlights of what to expect etc. . Something occurred to me tonight. People share results online to show that programs at home work. People in my line of work want to connect with you by showing other people’s results too because maybe you’ll want to jump in and try. Heck... I’ll be 💯and tell you that’s sorta what roped me in. I saw those infomercials for Insanity and thought... finally... i guess I’ll see what it’s all about. . Here’s the thing... my results aren’t going to be your results and no one should compare themselves to anyone else’s results. We don’t have each other’s DNA, stress, anxiety, work schedule, determination, dedication to or lack of nutrition, family life, etc. You can’t get my results and I can’t get yours. . If I’m being honest - working out everyday at home, in a gym, while we all may want to look good, feel good, be confident in our skin and our clothes... we gotta be doing it for the results we aim to achieve on a much deeper level. . Exercise and health conscious living- on any level - can literally change who you are but also it affects our physiological make up. The more you work on it and learn about it, the more you can hope to evolve. . So if you want to workout with me and try a new program, or join a group, go to a class... whatever... don’t do it for the results you saw me or someone else get... do it to be better, be healthier... . No matter if you are on day 3 or year 3... we all look like THIS afterwards... It’s hard work. . .
