Truth about detoxification What a trendy word in the recent days! Is it really so healing or it is another marketing myth? Here is what doctors and those with a basic medical degree say: If you have a liver and at least one kidney – you don’t need to detoxify. Let’s reason together. Detoxification – is a process when toxic elements are being removed from the targeted surface or getting neutralized. It is also a process of cleansing the body of people with serious illnesses such as overdose of drugs, alcohol, toxins (such as heavy metals), that is only performed in the hospital under doctors supervision. It is obvious that in this case doctors are using strong medicine, not juices or soups and its clear that such patients need a detoxification. I hope non of you would ever experience a need to detoxify in this way. If we follow a healthy lifestyle, exercise, and eat well including fruits, veggies and probiotics – our body detoxifies itself much more effective than the juice can do. All those trendy detox programs have nothing in common with science. Detox-products can not remove toxins from the body and to these day there is not a single science based study that would prove the opposite. Our body is stronger and more intelligent that we think, it has it’s own system of protecting mechanisms that you can never compare to a spinach smoothie. Can detox diets be dangerous for our bodies? 10 things you may not know about me: 1- I used to want six kids. Then I had one. 2- My love for God runs deep and glows in my veins. I know I am a divinely created woman, and often feel held in his and her presence. 3- I wish I was African. My soul is definitely a bit African, and I plan to be very much a part of their culture one day. 4- I really wanted to be a fashion designer when I was young. For my final English project in fifth grade, I created a magazine, and failed the assignment because I drew more clothes than I wrote words. I was devastated. 5- Along with my love for drawing clothes, I also used to dress very fashionably. Then I became an adult with other financial responsibilities and stopped caring so much about what I wore...still working to find a balance there. 6- My husband and my first date with each other was AWFUL. I had just returned from serving an 18 month mission for my church, where I was basically a nun and could only shake men’s hands. He touched my knee and hugged me too close and I deemed him a pervert and unworthy of my holiness. Good thing I got over myself and he still wanted to take me on another date. 7- Every health thing I share I do in honor of my Mama. Her life and death have helped me value my emotional/physical health and wholeness over anything. 8- My favorite color is purple, but I like all pastel colors. And white. And gold. 9- If it was sustainable could live off of green smoothies and dark chocolate 10- I am healing. Healing is a gift I don’t take for granted, and I’m so grateful for the many, many, many tools and people available to help me obtain it. What are 3 things I don’t know about you?

The opening shift got this girl up before the crack of dawn this morning, and while I was 100 percent dreading it (not a morning person), I have to say it was actually kind of nice watching the sunrise for once☀️ Since I’m basically nocturnal, I slept a total of 3 hours last night so today will be fun. But on a brighter note, here is what last nights dinner looked like 😋 thanks to @purplecarrotxo making it super easy to whip up easy plant based meals! I have to say even my meat loving bf who wasn’t very excited when I told him I switched our meal deliveries to a plant based company has been loving all of the meals 🙌🏽 That’s a win in my book. January to June... the second photo isn't the greatest comparison because of my shirt and sweater but I had just taken this for myself not to share. I also have a filter on it to help highlight which problem areas I need to focus on next. I can see the lines in my abdomen, showing me that my abs are developing beneath. I have lost almost all of my muffin top with nothing hanging over the side anymore. The only thing left is my mommy c section pouch. It will be a lot of work to get rid of but I believe it is achievable. I'm very proud! ✅✅✅💚💚💚💚✅✅✅ I did this on my OWN! For me! I didn't spend any money on a fad diet or an exercise program. A quick and simple cashew based cheese sauce with miso paste! . This was delicious on our potato enchiladas (I’ll post that recipe soon!) and my kids all loved dipping some chips in the sauce while we were waiting for dinner to cook . This would also be delicious to use as a cheese on top of pizza bc it has a slightly cheddar type of taste. Just bake your pizza as usual but without any cheese on it. While it’s cooking, heat up some of this cheese on the stove. When it’s done, pour this hot ooey gooey cheese all over!! Yum! ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• ⭐️Cashew Based Cheese Sauce⭐️ •2 cups soaked cashews (soaked for at least an hour, can be overnight) •1 Tablespoon miso paste •1/4 cup nutritional yeast •1 teaspoon sea salt •1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice •1 teaspoon coconut oil •1 cup boiling water 👉Directions •Put all ingredients into a vitamix and blend on high for 2 min •The sauce is good to use as is, or you can heat it up in a pan on the stove to get it a more gooey, melty type of texture

Why do we put so much pressure on ourselves to be perfect all the time? . . On a call that I was leading the other night in my Chronic Disease Health Reset Academy, I had one of my students share her guilt and shame around eating cake and a donut at her family's gathering. . . It got me thinking about how family's influence our eating habits. . . For a while I would get "oh, Nicole won't eat that because she's healthy" or "Nicole, did you want to bring something you can eat?" . . Just because I eat healthy doesnt mean I won't eat the cheesball or bacon wrapped quail (which we had lastnight- it was delicious) . . There needs to be a happy medium between eating healthy and LIVING! . . That's why I eat the 80/20 way... . . 80% of the time, I eat on point. 20% of the time, I can have bacon or ice cream or something deemed "unhealthy" . . This takes the guilt and pressure off of me. . . This is why I cook so much from home, so I can go out to eat or to a family gathering- eat the cake if I want it, enjoy a donut and still remain on track eith my health goals. . . Too much pressure to be perfect will set you up for failure, love. . . Give yourself some grace. HAPPY SUMMER! ☀️ . But WHO walks down to the beach with a huge bottler of water and a bag of salad in her hand?!? . THIS GIRL 👆🏼👆🏼🤣🤣 . This trip has been all about balance for sure. I havent missed out on any of my favorite treats. 🍕🍨 🍫 🦀 🥨 I also haven’t forgotten to mostly fuel my body with what it truly needs and operates best on each day. 🥗🍎🥕🍌 . In past vacations I would have eaten any and everything I wanted and ONLY that. I’d go home feeling stuffed, lazy, and blah. 🤦🏻‍♀️ . Today, on our last day of this year’s beach marathon I actually feel pretty decent! . I learned A LOT last month that has helped my health and my mindset in so many SIMPLE ways. Good morning world ☀️ lately I’ve been going to sleep with Felix at 8:30/9pm because Hendrix has been waking up so early (some mornings at 4:45am 😱). The pro side of that is that I get so much cuddle time Felix at night and then so much cuddle time with Hendrix in the morning. It’s hard to get one-on-one time with the kids otherwise and I treasure these moments with them so much. . I do miss having time to myself at the end of the day, but honestly the best self-care practice for me is to make sure I get enough sleep, drink enough water, get fresh air, move my body (even just walking) and eat delicious, nutrient-rich food. . These are such basics, but they work. When these things are in place, your mind can function and be clear, your emotions have a higher, positive vibration, problems feels smaller and more manageable, your digestion works, your skin brightens, your relationships feel richer and life becomes more fulfilling. . The one “rule” is that these basic principles -sleep/rest, hydration, fresh air/ sunlight, movement, nutrition- must happen consistently. There’s no short cut or pill or coach/ therapist/ lover/ friend who can do this for you. . Since I’ve been making sleep/ rest a priority again (it’s probably the hardest one for parents) and just surrendered to the fact that that’s when the kids fall asleep/ wake up for right now, I don’t wake up/ get woken up and feel annoyed or irritated or like my brain isn’t working all day. .
