My version of baked beans is so easy to prepare it seems criminal to revert to the tinned stuff. I also add roasted red capsicum and freshly made Passata too when I have on hand. Since surgery I’ve been running a pretty strict anti-inflammatory game as far as my meals go. Sugar free, alcohol free, red meat free, soy free, dairy free (my only exceptions are Parmesan and goat cheese), caffeine free and of course gluten free. It’s probably easier to tell you what I can eat. And that’s a whole lotta vegetables and fruits. After a ton of research, I’m cycle syncing in an attempt to balance my hormones and appease some of my endometriosis symptoms and flair ups. In the almost three months since starting this, I’m down 18 pounds and feeling super in tune with my body. It’s not really about the weight, it’s about how much more energized, alert and healthy I feel. Maybe that whole hospital stay awoke something in me. No, not maybe. Most certainly. To never taking my health and happiness for granted again. Anyway, what you’ve got pictured here is a little broccoli and white bean soup. And it’s SUPER yummy!

I’ve been wanting to make @thenakdkitchen ‘s red lentil Indian Dahl for a while now and since I finally had (most of) the ingredients I decided to go for it today! It took me a bit longer than things I usually cook but it was sooo worth it! It’s thick, rich, and super flavorful (plus it has sweet potatoes 🍠❤️). Perfect for cooler days and slightly under the weather people (aka here and me). ~ // See Emma’s recipe on her page. The only change I made is that I halved the recipe and used some Garam Masala since I didn’t have quite enough curry powder. I paired my Dahl with brown rice and some basil for “aesthetics”.

You guys, honestly, no one is saying you should eat plain lettuce and salads all day every day...and if they are, they're super out to lunch(I mean that in the nicest way!😚). I know, I know, Instagram healthy people are eating salads for lunches and dinners and life is just peachy.🍑 But trust me, plain lettuce isn't going to fill anyone up. And what happens when we don't feel full or satisfied from a meal? We get snacky, and we want to all the foods because our bodies are still craving nourishment. And then of course, we start to feel guilty because we "fell off the wagon" on our diet and we ate things that were "bad" for us instead. Here's the thing(besides of course the facts that there is no wagon that you need to be on, and no food is bad): food was meant to be good and to make us feel satisfied. You should eat salads, but hopefully it's when you're feeling like having one, not because it's the "healthy" thing to do. And when you do eat that salad, load it up with all the good stuff: chicken, chickpeas, edamame beans, good oils, avocado(duh) and whatever else is actually going to fill you up! Otherwise, don't opt for the salad. Go for what you're feeling like having instead and truly satisfy that craving. Consider this your public service announcement: no one expects you to live off of salads, and salads are not the only way to be healthy. Got it? Kay, good.💛 #healthybymarjan #healthytips

Both nut butters are high in monosaturated fat but almond butter contains 25% more than peanut butter per serving. I’ve posted this before, but I’m sharing it again in case you missed it because I just went to the grocery store the other day and avocados were like $2 each. If I’m gonna be spending that kind of money on a single avocado, I need to make sure I’m consuming every little morsel, you feel me? ••• Oh, hey. Did you know that you can find frozen avocados in the freezer section of your grocery store? You know when you go to the store and all the avocados are either way too ripe, or not ripe enough, or $5.00 a piece? Well, problem solved. Have these on hand instead. On the flip side, you know how sometimes you go to the store and it feels like you won the Powerball because avocados are 10 for $10 but they’re all ripe and ready to go and you know they’ll turn black before you can eat them because avocados are crazy like that? Buy them, cut them into slices, arrange them in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, and freeze them for 2 hours.
