Making healthier alternatives for this family is no easy feat! Master 2 claimed he had ‘kaka’ (aka 💩) on his pancakes- it was date caramel sauce 😂 So I had to get him a ‘new’ plate with ‘new’ pancakes and top them with maple syrup in front of him just so he’d eat them 🙄 Miss 3 wasn’t too bad, but kept kept giving me the side eye as if to say “are these ok to eat?”, only ate the bananas and then went and got her own pancakes and proceeded to drown them with maple syrup. Date Caramel Sauce made with only 16 pitted dates (soaked in boiling water for 1/2 hour) ➕ 1/4 - 1/2 cup coconut cream (depending on how thick you want your sauce, add a little at a time until it’s at the right consistency for you). Sunday nights are for... pizza! 🏈 season is back and that means that my Sundays are, well, over lol. In an effort to still make Sunday’s family day, we started a new tradition and the girls LOVE it. Sunday afternoons are now dedicated to making pizza with my daughters and playing board games. My husband plays with us and takes his turn every so often (during commercials lol), and it is still a family day. He enjoys it as much as we do because we are still all together. I can’t recommend beginning a tradition like this enough. A few weeks ago, I ordered a delicious pizza from a NY style restaurant. My girls begged me to never do that again on pizza night. They wanted to make their own, they liked it more. Want to know how much healthier their own is? It’s so simple and hassle free, anyone can do it on a Sunday night! To make it even less of a hassle, we ate it on paper plates. Doesn’t get easier than that! Our pizza: ✅ whole wheat thin crust purchased at @Whole foods ✅ organic @365bywholefoods pizza 🍅 sauce ✅ organic @365bywholefoods shredded mozzarella cheese ✅ Black sliced olives I place the crusts on these thin cutting board sheets and place a crust in front of each child. I give each of them a silicone brush so they each dip and brush on the tomato sauce. Then they sprinkle the cheese on and finally their topping of choice (usually always olives). They usually try to make emojis or hearts or any other design with the topping. I then clean around the cutting board and take the crust with the cutting board to the oven and slide the pizzas directly onto the center racks. I bake them at 375 degrees for 6-10 minutes. You want to get them out when the cheese is melted. If it starts bubbling, it’s getting too hot and has been in there too long. Make memories with your kids. Mine look forward to this all week and we learn a lot about each other as we win and lose and laugh and cry. Wishing everyone a great start to a new week! Bon Appetit!

Peanut Oat Balls! These snack bites are so easy to make and perfect for toddlers and pregnant/breastfeeding mamas who need food NOW. 😉 👉 Place 1 cup rolled oats, 1 cup peanut butter, 3/4 cup unsweetened shredded coconut, 2 tablespoons chia seeds and a pinch of salt in the base of a food processor/blender and blend until smooth. The philosophy behind a Whole Foods plant based diet is getting the nutrients straight from the source. . Mother Nature knows exactly what she’s doing. Most of it comes in its own container so no need to add waste to the environment either. . We think fruit juice is healthy. It’s given so often to kids. More than water. But did you know coconut water has more electrolytes than pedialyte??? . Most fruit juices contain preservatives, “natural flavors”, corn syrup and tons of other crap you don’t want your kids having. Fruit on its own has all that fiber and other phytonutrients fresh at the source. Once you squeeze and bottle oranges for example, they lose almost ALL of their nutrients by the time they’re pasteurized and reach the stores. . You might as well drink a soda at that point. . [HEALTHIER CHICKEN FINGERS & FRIES 🍟] I'm a giant kid at heart, and when I got the craving for chicken fingers and fries, I had to act. . Thing is, fries and fried chicken are not something I'm excited about putting in my body. So I made a healthier spin on my childhood favorite. Plus a veggie because #balance and #healthy. . Here's what you need: Chicken tenders 1 Egg Bread crumbs Sweet potato Broccoli Olive oil Salt & pepper . Preheat oven to 400°. . FINGERS: Scramble one egg, cover tenders with egg, then cover in bread crumbs. Move coated tenders to a cookie sheet with a little bit of olive oil to prevent sticking. . FRIES: Cut up a sweet potato into "fry" shape. Put on the same cookie sheet with olive oil. Add salt to taste. . Move cookie sheet into the oven for 20-25 mins. Flip tenders half way through to get golden on both sides. . BROCCOLI: Just steam it in a pot, once it's done add a little olive oil and salt & pepper. . Serve! Bam. Happy kids.
