Because sometimes you feel like a nut and sometimes you don't. Love hanging out with this nut, @chrystenefav but I also love to eat nuts! Check out this article on this diet staple in my arsenal of wellness: "Study reveals noshing on more nuts slashes death risk by 20%
Here's a simple dietary change you can make within minutes, but will come with a lifetime of benefits: Swap an unhealthy snack like chips for a handful of nuts.
They're just as tasty... far more filling... and packed with more health benefits than I can even list here, so today I'm going to focus on just one: longevity.
Eat more nuts, and you can literally live longer.
Yes, it really is that simple -- because making nuts your regular snack could cut your risk of death from all causes by 20 percent, according to a new study of some 200,000 men and women in the United States and China.
Nuts are packed to the shells with a perfect balance of unsaturated fats, fiber, essential minerals, phytonutrients and more. These are some nature's biggest disease fighters, and you'll find them hiding inside some of nature's smallest treats.
And while they can cut your risk of death from any cause, these nutrients are especially important to heart function -- which is why the study finds that your biggest drop in death risk will be in your risk of dying from heart disease.
That's the nation's number one killer, and you can avoid it simply by switching snacks.
You'd have to be nuts to NOT make that change.
The study in JAMA Internal Medicine finds that just about any nut you crave will give you the benefit: walnuts, almonds, cashews, pistachios and more. Even peanuts and peanut butter will do the trick -- which is especially impressive when you consider that peanuts aren't even nuts (they're legumes). Just about the only way you can go wrong is by choosing nuts that have been salted, sugared and honey-coated -- so eat nuts, just be sure that they're natural."
