I hate when totally uneducated and unempathetic idiots claim that "if you're overweight it's all your fault" or just "get off your lazy arse". - You can't just blame the person. We live in a world of super-palatable, easily accessible, cheap, calorie dense food and drinks that are constantly marketed to appeal to our deep psychology. Our society is now perfectly built to create an overweight society. - So, how can you simply push all the blame onto the individual? you can't blame Mowgli for thinking he's a wolf when he grew up with them. I'm all for personal accountability but this is totally unfair. - Maybe your genetic makeup, upbringing, beliefs, values, and lifestyle has lead you to not be overweight. DID SOMEONE SAY #HUMPDAY ⁉️ No? Oh well, IMMA SAY IT THEN! 🍑🍑🍑 —— Hitting that backside ain’t just about booty, we gotta target those hamstrings too! The hamstrings help ‘lift’ the glutes, and of course who doesn’t want that little muscle to pop? 🙆🏼‍♀️ — Did you know that to target the hamstrings, both hip hinging movements (i.e. deadlifts) and leg curling movements are needed to allow for the full range of the muscle to be worked? I see a lot of people skip out of leg curls because they aren’t ‘compounds’, but they are actually very necessary! — Here are a few of my favourite glute/hamstrings movements at the moment (not showing deadlifts because I think you’ve seen me do them enough 😂) — ➖Single Leg Standing Curl 4 x 8-12/leg *focus on squeezing the hamstring before you curl up, ROM from ~110° up to the bum, don’t let tension come out of hammy ➖Hip Thrusts 4 sets HEAVY AS FUQ *tuck you chin in, fold your upper body in as your bum lowers to the ground, push through heels and use glutes to bring hips to parallel with ground ➖Constant Tension Squats 4 x 8-12 *don’t lock out at the top, weight in the heels, don’t let hip come forward, imagine they are attached to a pole and can only go up/down ➖Lying Leg Curls 4 x 12-15 *slight external hip rotation, dig hip into pad and don’t let them come off, squeeze hamstring before initiating curl — I hope these cues helped, and if you have further questions don’t be scared to ask! ☺️ Have an amazing #HumpDay babes! When your picture just doesn’t do your meal justice...believe me this one skillet meal is both EASY & delicious! 🎄12 FIT TIPS OF CHRISTMAS 🎄 LIGHTEN UP YOUR COMFOR FOODS A lot of you mentioned struggling with wanting to eat warm comfort foods over the holidays, & not wanting to pack in all the calories. This recipe is a super simple way to lighten up a healthy dish that is still filling & delicious! It comes together in one skillet in about 10 minutes. 🙌🏽 ONE SKILLET CHICKEN & VEGGIE BAKE Combine in a large skillet 1/2-1 cup chicken broth 2-4 cups chopped broccoli florets (I use the pre cut bags … because #easy) 2-4 cups chopped cauliflower florets 1/2-1 TBS basil 1/2 -1 tsp garlic salt 1/2-1 tsp onion powder 1/4-1/2 tsp ground pepper Cover and let veggies cook all the way through. Add more seasonings if needed. Drain off remaining broth if there is any. Add to skillet: 7 oz cooked + shredded chicken (I used 2 cans of Costco chicken breast drained + shredded) but you could use rotisserie chicken or you could cook/shred your own chicken. 2 oz neufchâtel cream cheese. Combine together until cream cheese is melted in & chicken is warmed through. Top with cheese if needed. I buy #groceries for one now, which is more challenging than it sounds. I am still trying to figure out how often I need to go to the grocery store (it's sadly not as often as I like -- anyone else love grocery shopping?). I had a box of #mushrooms I really needed to use up, so I made Mushroom "Makhni" for #mealprep this week. Makhni means butter in #punjabi, and this dish is usually made with chicken. This is a #vegetarian and/or #vegan alternative with no butter (!!), and doesn't compromise the taste. 🥘Ingredients: 1 tablespoon olive oil, 1 small onion, thinly sliced, 2 crushed garlic pods, 1 inch chopped ginger; 16 oz. sliced mushrooms, 1/4 teaspoon salt; 1 1/2 tablespoon @pataksusa Tikka Masala, 1 can tomato sauce (8 oz.), 1/2 cup chopped cilantro; 2-3 tablespoons heavy cream or cashew paste. 🥘Method: Heat the oil in a pan, and sauté the ginger and garlic. Add the onion, and sprinkle half the salt. Cook until the onions caramelize. 🥘Add the mushrooms and the remaining salt, and cook for 4 minutes (mushrooms will only be half-cooked). 🥘Combine the #pataksusa #tikkamasala with the tomato sauce, and add to the pan with 8 oz. of water and half the cilantro. Cook with a lid on, stirring every few minutes. Check a mushroom to make sure it's cooked through before removing from heat (5-6 minutes). 🥘Add the heavy cream or #cashew paste and the remaining cilantro. Serve with rice or quinoa. 🥘To make the cashew paste, soak 2 tablespoons of cashews in hot water for 15 minutes or more, and blend until smooth. Using this replacement makes the #recipe #vegan! 🥘This was so easy, and the ready-to-use #masala makes it so quick! It's also amazing in #cold weather! Not your typical Christmas time treat but I love me some Lemon Bars and what’s better then a healthier re-make of these. Ever since I was little I never wanted a birthday cake on my birthday always asked for Lemon Bars instead.
