My fitness and weight loss journey has actually gone backwards over the years. This is something I always knew to be true, but never realized HOW true until I put all these pictures together. From the senior prom picture of 2014 - today, I’ve gained roughly 25 lbs. over the years I’ve lost, gained, lost, and gained again. Typically, over the summer I would dedicate my time to getting into shape for the beach. Once school started again, so did the stress and busy schedule, slowly taking away my progress. Each year, the bounce back has gotten worse and worse. I’ve done everything you can imagine from loads of cardio, strictly weight training for fitness, and counting macros, caloric restriction, vegetarian, and now paleo for my nutrition. One this has always been true: consistency is KEY. NOTHING beats consistency. I achieved my #goals in the past with #consistency and dedication, and I will achieve them once more with the same recipe. Except this time, there will be no “bounce back” weight gain at the end of the summer. This year will be different because I am finally making a promise to myself that no matter how busy life gets, I come first. My health comes first. I called my shot a little over a week ago the first picture if of me at 175 # a little under 2 years ago. Training Vs Entertainment . Or should I say “”Entertrainment” . The best development I’ve seen, and continue to see, comes from mainly compounds, not all the fancy/specal exercises that people do on IG. . Not 1,000 reps of small single joint, overly complicated, dynamic movements. . Big Compound movements with 1 or 2 isolation movements for trouble/imbalanced areas. . I’ve found that mastering my technique and learning how to isolate muscles WITHIN a compound lift has been the most rewarding approach lifting. . I often see compound movement executed carelessly as if they believe that just moving the bar from point A to B will be enough stimulate targeted muscle group. . I also see people doing waaaaaay to much fancy variety just trying to isolate 🎯 a muscle. Like the women that do 20 different isolation exercises per workout with bands with little or no progress. . Some of the exercises are entertaining to watch/do but do they give the best results. Probably not! . I’m not training to be entertained and I don’t train my clients to entertain them. . . Learn to keep it Simple. Be Specific. Do it effectively. Make every rep count! . Learn to master the bigger movements and select a few of best isolation exercises then do them effectively. . Train with Focus and Frequently! .
