HEALTH BENEFITS OF ASHWAGANDHA💛 Ashwagandha is a prominent herb in Indian Ayurvedic medicine and has become a popular supplement due to its proven health benefits. 💛It is one of the most powerful adaptogens (my personal/professional fave), a natural substance considered to help the body adapt to stress and to exert a normalizing effect upon bodily processes. 💛I add 1/2 tsp to my morning smoothies, and 1/2 tsp to my afternoon matcha. It can be added to any drink or recipe! 💛IMPORTANT NOTE: Ashwagandha is in the nightshade family and should be avoided by those who suffer from this intolerance or allergy and those on the AIP diet. Maca and ginseng would be the next best adaptogen for healing benefits. 💛LOWERS BLOOD SUGAR LEVELS One test-tube study found that ashwagandha increased insulin secretion and improved insulin sensitivity in muscle cells. Believe it or not but this is a carrot! A carrot hot dog. Took a few carrots and marinated them for a few hours and believe it or they actually tasted like hot dogs. Kids love hot dogs but they are not made with the best ingredients. So instead of veggie dogs try these. It's fermented and teeming with #healthy gut loving bacteria. Try and go for #organic tempeh as most soy on the market is genetically modified 😫. 🥗 Quick health tip: if you suffer from lots of candida, try and avoid tempeh as mold is generated during the fermentation process. Today I experimented with Konjac noodles for the first times and I dig! Konjac is a very low calorie, high fibre root vegetable that has been eaten in Japan for years. These noodles have 0g of salt, fat and sugar. They are gluten free, soy free, vegan and perfect for someone on a diet such as keto because they contain 0g of carbs. Konjac also provides a variety of other health benefits including anti inflammatory properties, helps regulate diabetes and helps the body absorb minerals. These babies are awesome for stir fry or soup. Time to get your konjac on. ✌️✌️

😳 I don’t weigh myself often/don’t pay too much attention to the number on the scale, because I lift heavy and focus on building muscle. I don’t even measure myself too often, so I really didn’t realize the change in my body composition the last few months until I went back to look at my “before” pictures still a thicccc potato, but getting there 😂 • I’m not even close to being at the place I was at before my year from hell with Lyme BUT it’s great to be able to see the progress I’ve made. To be totally honest I’m way more excited to feel myself getting stronger and being able to lift heavier..but it’s pretty cool to visibly see changes too 💪 • Tracking macros and learning to eat intuitively/properly fueling your body is a GAME CHANGER. Change takes time! Quick fixes are bullshit. Put in the work, eat healthy, and YOU WILL SUCCEED! You will see people who drop weight really quickly on Instagram but that’s not sustainable. Eating 1200 calories a day is not sustainable or healthy. You will absolutely lose weight but why not do it the right way? Why not make your body and mind healthy? By now I think everyone is aware of my obsession with chips, especially my kryptonite Doritos. Now, thanks to @thatcleanlife you can enjoy them guilt free ・・・ Unfortunately Doritos are made with MSG, hydrogenated oils, artificial color, and corn syrup? ❌❌❌ . . Now you can enjoy the delicious taste of Doritos with this foraged up version. Just use this recipe: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Ingredients: 6 6-inch corn tortillas ¼ cup nutritional yeast 1 teaspoon chilli powder 1 teaspoon sea salt ¼ teaspoon turmeric ½ teaspoon garlic powder ½ teaspoon onion powder ½ teaspoon smoked paprika ¼ cup avocado oil ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Directions: 1️⃣Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F. 2️⃣Stack the tortillas and slice them into 6 small triangles each using a large knife. These will be your chips. In a coffee grinder, or small blender, add the nutritional yeast, chilli powder, sea salt, turmeric, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika. Grind into a fine powder. 3️⃣Transfer the ground spices to a bowl and stir in oil to create a thin paste. 4️⃣Brush each side of each chip with some of the paste, to coat well. Lay them in a single layer on a baking sheet. 5️⃣Bake for 3-4 minutes per side, until the chips are slightly browned and feel crispy. This should take 8-9 minutes, watch them closely so they don’t burn. They will crisp up further as they cool. 6️⃣Remove from oven, transfer to a paper towel and cool for 10-15 minutes before eating them. Chocolate ZUCCHINI Bread ✨ In awe of zucchini season! It’s one of my favourite vegetables to grow/have in the house because there is SO much you can do with it. This recipe is dairy and refined sugar free but super chocolatey and delicious! ✨ RECIPE Dry Ingredients: - 1.5 cups spelt flour - 1/2 cup cacao powder - 1 tsp baking soda - 1 tsp baking powder - 1/2 tsp sea salt - 1/2 tsp cinnamon Wet Ingredients: - 1 cup grated zucchini - 1 ripe mashed banana - 1 Tbsp chia presoaked in 3 Tbsp water for 10 min - 1/3 cup honey - 1/3 cup coconut oil - 1 tsp vanilla Preheat oven to 350F. Mix dry and wet ingredients in separate bowls stirring both well. Add wet to dry ingredients. Continue to stir. TIP: you can place batter in a @vitamix or food processor to make it a smoother consistency (otherwise the zucchini texture might be more noticeable - which I think is great too). Place in a loaf pan and bake for 40ish min (time depending on your oven and how gooey you like your loaves to be). ENJOY! 💛

I had an awesome meeting yesterday with the owner of this amazing vegan restaurant in downtown Oakville - Dar Nabati. The one thing I have always struggled with is breakfast. Even before I went vegan I could never stomach eggs and I didn't like the taste of bacon or how it made me feel; so that eliminated the most typical breakfast. ⠀ I also didn't like sweet things in the morning very often, so there go the pancakes. ⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ I figured out that I like savory foods in the morning and I love a good breakfast wrap sans egg since they made me feel sick (cue food allergies) and discovered the absolute joy that is chickpea flour. ⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ I would post a recipe but it is SO SIMPLE it is literally equal parts chickpea flour, which you can find at bulk barn for pretty cheap, and water. I blend it up in my Vitamix so that there aren't any clumps and voila! Today @lux_vincit & I went to the grocery store with $10 to get sum deals on fruits 🤗We picked up more cherries cus we thought they were just $1.39. But it was per pound, oops 🤦🏻‍♀️We get up to the register & they ended up being $3.. we were $2 short & the lady at the register tells us to hold on a sec with a big smile on her face, goes in the back & gets money from her purse & covers us on the $2. How to make zoodles: 1) Use a Julianne peeler or spiralizer to cut zucchini (or yellow squash or sweet potato) into noodles. 2) Place in a pan with olive oil, garlic, and salt OR with pasta sauce. 3) Use tongs to keep them moving and let them cook until soft but not mushy.
