YOU GUYS! Thank you, thank you so freaking much for all of your sweet messages yesterday 🙏🏼. ⠀ ⠀ To be honest, I was scared shitless to share that with you. I felt like a fraud. As someone who works with women daily to overcome their struggles with food & their body, I felt like I couldn’t have struggles of my own. ⠀ ⠀ Then I reminded myself - I’m human too 😌⠀ ⠀ Now I want to share with you how I cope with what I refer to as “bad body days” (again, like a bad hair day) because it’s a heck of a lot different than how I used to:⠀ ⠀ - I wore comfy clothes that made me feel GOOD 👖⠀ - I ate colourful, nourishing food but also honoured what I wanted (a glass of red wine 🍷 with my @chickapeapasta 🍝) ⠀ - Took a warm, cleansing shower with the lights off and nothing but Alexi Murdoch & raindrops on the window in my ears ☔️⠀ ⠀ Im curious - how do you guys manage ‘bad body days’ when they creep their way in? 🤷🏼‍♀️

Personally, I LOVE to throw crazy amount of ingredients into my blender without a concern in the world for how bad it tastes. Whether you aim for taste or not, this little hack will make your personal shake concoction more potent in antioxidants. . The purpose for what I am going to suggest is the following . 1) To decrease the amount of oxidation that occurs with high speed blending -Yes this is a thing...Rupturing of the cell walls and organelles within a plant cell releases nutrients, but also vigorously exposes it to atmospheric oxygen which can actually deactivate certain nutrients . 2) As a result of decreasing this oxidation, you will increase the absorption of various polephenols from the ingredients in your smoothie. . So this is what you do 1) You pre-blend and use as your blending “liquid,” a cold water solution containing a fruit with a high ascorbic acid content and low pH (a lemon, orange or lime) . <---That, means this---> Before adding ANY plant/fruit/protein ingredients. Mix your liquid (water, milk, bone broth, whatever) with your high ascorbic acid containing fruit of choice and some ice cubes. . 2) THEN, add and blend your plants in this solution . By reducing of the temperature, and increasing the acidity (specifically with ascorbic acid) you will limit the oxidation that occurs and increase the antioxident power of polephenols absorbed. . Do you ever find yourself comparing your body, diet or workout routine to another woman? (if not you are a superwoman)⠀ .⠀ Maybe she’s a friend, coworker or someone on social media. I’ll admit that I fall into the comparison trap sometimes myself but I’ve learned it gets me nowhere other than feeling bad about myself. And when I feel bad about myself, I am not showing up in the world as ME. ⠀ .⠀ .⠀ These are some of the negative voices that popped up around comparison:⠀ ⠀ “She has an amazing core with 6-pack abs. I look pregnant.” Great. Do I really want 6-pack abs or am I conditioned to believe I want that? Maybe I just want the bloating to end.⠀ ⠀ “She never has chocolate. What is wrong with me?” First of all, maybe she does have chocolate and I don’t know about it. Second, daily servings of cacao are so much different than candy bars so don’t put them on the same level. Third, I am neither wrong or right nor a good or bad person based on my food choices.⠀ ⠀ “She goes hard at the gym 5 times a week. No wonder I look and feel this way. I better get my act together.” Maybe that works for her but the gym is not the only way to move. There are so many wonderful ways to exercise and it’s ok to allow gentler forms of movement to restore my body.⠀ .⠀ .⠀ It’s not that she is better than you. It’s not that she is healthier than you. It’s not that she has more willpower than you. I love using leftovers for lunch...today I grabbed some mixed greens and topped with chicken from last night. The ground chicken was cooked with onion, garlic, peppers, carrots and soya sauce. Topped off with hot sauce lunch is served! Keep it simple.

To the folks who could care less about my thrifted clothing, I give you COOKIE OAT BARS🍪🍫 : 2 cups gluten free oats 1/2 cup almond flour 1/2 tsp cinnamon Pinch salt 1 tsp vanilla extract 3 Tbsp maple syrup 2 Tbsp nut butter (I used sunflower) 1/2 cup melted coconut oil : Add all the ingredients to a blender or food processor. Blend until everything comes together into a dough-like texture. Press the dough into a parchment lined 8x8 inch pan. Refrigerate until firm. Meanwhile, melt 50g of dark chocolate (half a bar) in the microwave or over a double boiler. Drizzle over base and refrigerate until chocolate is set.
