Just had a fairly popular IG #reseller friend say she was taking a breaker for the summer from social media because the negativity was just too much and she needs a break. I completely encourage this.
Breaks, even from things you love, are important. Especially today when they are draining more energy and they are creating. I love politics. Im extremely involved, but I don’t discuss them on IG because as much as I love them this is my refuge from them. As much as I love it I took about 6 months off in 2017. This was right after my dad died and Washington was transitioning. During this time I started my #eBay and #Amazon #resell business which was life changing. Breaks are good.
Positivity is even better. Negativity is easy. Sure as Americans we are the top 1% economically in the world even among some of our poorest people. Yes, we have fairly equal treatment under the law compared to any other time in history. I mean if you’re reading this you have access to almost all of human knowledge for free! From a historical view this is clearly the greatest time in human history for most people on earth.
Are there things we can do better? Sure. We should always be fighting to keep our rights and for the rights of others. Yet, don’t let that blind you to how awesome life is.
When I was in high school I was a total loser. I had no one to sit with at lunch and struggled with loneliness, suicide, and depression. Today, I have friends irl and virtual around the world. I get to make my income by using pieces of latex to create a temporary sculpture. I get to supplement that income by buying stuff other people gave away for free and I sell it to a worldwide audience. I get to interact online with amazing people on the reseller community that freely offer massive amounts of information. There is a lot to be positive about. I don’t mean to make light of some people in deep pain, but that is not most of us and dwelling on that no matter how empathetic we are does not make their lives better. Being positive, promoting the good in the world prompts others to action which builds upon itself and helps others.
Go shout something positive into the world.
