“Ryan Dallion” from FRIDAY the 13th: the Series (1987-1989) played by John D. LeMay. Ryan inherits the CURIOUS GOODS antique shop from his uncle and runs it with MICKI (Robey), his cousin through marriage.
He’s excited to fix up the store, but Micki talks him into selling off the inventory, not knowing that the antiques carry an evil curse. They don’t find out until it’s too late and they have already spread the evil. Micki wants to bail, but Ryan insists on tracking down every item they sold before more innocent people are killed and robbed of their souls.
Ryan is a fascinating character. He starts the series as a failed art student who’s estranged from his family, with a goofy charm, and a crush on his cousin Micki. Watching him go from a silly wisecracking student to a man who dedicates his life (literally) to saving others from evil forces is one of the main reasons to watch this classic series. He’s the show’s heart and comic relief. As the series progresses, he becomes more serious and driven, while still maintaining his charm. His end was tragic and the saddest part of the entire story. The only thing that eased the pain was John D. LeMay’s appearance in the film Friday the 13th: Jason Goes to Hell (1993), entirely unrelated to the series. It wasn’t the best of the franchise, but it was a lot of fun, and John was great in it. -Ghostman
