A DIFFERENT KIND OF SANTA
You know you are no longer in North America when you see this at your local supermarket... Christmas in the Southern Hemisphere is a different world to what I grew up with... For starters, it’s hot. It’s often humid. Lunch is often the meal of the day and seafood features over the traditional turkey or ham in the warmer parts of OZ.
Santa surfs. And I have seen a reindeer in a bikini! And a good number of them drink cold beer
Most of us end up at the beach or the creek at some point in the day. There are cricket games, stand up paddling, kayaking, and fishing to do... For everyone and all ages together on one day
I do miss the cool crisp Xmas time air in the northern hemisphere, the constant reminder that it is Xmas everywhere you go, and the general all out festivity but I am getting more used to this laid back version... What is Xmas time like for YOU?
