I was given this orchid two years ago, it has flowered well so far, happy on it’s west facing window sill. But the flowers stopped, and the leaves started to look sad. After a bit of research, the top tip seemed to be, “take it out of the pot and have a look! 👀 “. Sure enough the roots were rotten from being compacted into old crumbly moss inside the pot, meaning it was just not getting enough water. I cleaned up the roots, (which like to be moist, with air to breathe) and found this old Kilner jar with a missing lid. 2 inches of stones for the water to drain to, moss surrounding the roots for air and moisture, and after 3 weeks I had my first bloom! 🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸
Fingers crossed my orchid likes it’s new home, please comment if you have any further tips, it’s my first dabble in orchid care.
