This topic is so so close to my heart. My grandfather was a refugee in WW2. He walked from Poland to Switzerland to escape the war. He left his family, his friends and his life behind in search of a future. Most of the men he left Poland with died during the journey over the Alps. They had the hope of a future too, but the difficult journey took that away from them. Switzerland allowed my grandfather to stay, where he found work, a home, a wife and a new family. This journey was so hard for him he rarely spoke of it. Leaving his family in Poland broke his heart so much he barely spoke of them.
These refugee's in Nauru are humans. Just like you and me. They have a story just like my grandfather. But instead of finding the safety of a new home to heal from the trauma of war, famine, torture and abuse these people are being locked up in inhumane conditions being subjected to even more horrific treatment. These people are someone's mother, father, son or daughter. They are people. We need to get them off Nauru immediately. They deserve so much more. Please educate yourselves. There are no queues. There are international laws Australia is breaking. And seriously, we receive such a tiny amount of the actual refugees seeking asylum through out the world. Please help the fight and do all you can to save these poor people. 📸 Credit to @
