Coming straight to you from the humid South Jersey where the humidity is so thick you can grab it and move it. 😆 Yesterday, @elsaisfit and I ran 15 miles — now most people would want a rest day after that kind of distance, but that is the worst thing you can do, why? 1. Post long distance running you will be sore, so in order to decrease your soreness you must do your post workout, stretch and even walk that same day. 2. One day later, you have to get up and move. Now I’m not saying go for another 15 miles, but get up and shake your legs out. If you rest, the lactic acid will build up and you’ll be even more sore. 3. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate — this will flush out any toxins. 4. Drink those greens!!!! Just sayin’! 5. Stretch post jog — it’s important to do this AFTER your run, not before. If you do it before, you’re more likely to pull something ...disclaimer: post run stretches feel soooo good! 6. Don’t be surprised if 2 days later you feel worse — sometimes the fatigue sets in 2 days post long run — do the same thing, get up and move! Sometimes not having a plan is the best plan. I am currently in my #bodybuilding off season and while I'm working with @n3labscanada to optimize my nutrition for the next year or so, I am always thinking about what my #physique will bring to the stage next. I have no definitive plans for the stage but I want to be ready. I am training 3 days a week at #weightlifting and then I am doing the rest of the week working on weaknesses in my physique but I really haven't nailed down my plan. Wider shoulders, thicker back, better hamstrings. I also need to balance my shoulders as a neck injury has a bit of atrophy to the right lateral delt and right tricep after last prep (now more tempo work and volume to that side). I will sit down this week and write out my plan and see what happens with my physique the next 10 weeks I am here in #YVR before I head back to Calgary. Star Valley Half Marathon was great once again! We set goals, we train, we perform, we wonder why we set the crazy goals we did, we complain about how sore we are, we forget about the pain inflicted, and we set more goals. It’s a vicious cycle that I really have a love/hate relationship with! Do you know where life will take you? Sometimes, it’s some pretty dark places, some hard times, some challenging moments. We need to realize there is a track. We can stay on it, get derailed, change destinations, or find a new passage. . . I have some health challenges right now, and extensive testing happening at Mayo Clinic. I’ll hopefully have some answers in the next week. I know I will overcome this bump in the road to get to where I need to be. . . My sister gave me a great tip the other day. I’m allowed to be pissed, sad, and just plain old frustrated. I am not allowed to dwell on it. I can allot a little bit of time each day for reflection on what’s happening and each day, drop that time by 5 min or more till it’s a blip. I’m trying to do just that. . . I’m not done fighting. How many of you have choked down protein just to get it down? 🙋🏼‍♀️I have had to plug my nose, “get in the zone”, and just chugged some of my shakes over the years-especially when I mix them with water. This isolate protein has absolutely EXCEEDED my expectations!!! There are so many protein powders out there on the market and I have tried over 15+ brands over the years and so it has really boiled down to taste and texture for me (of course after nutrition). HANDS DOWN the best tasting protein I have ever had. That right there is mixed with only water and I wanted more after it was done. THAT’S HOW GOOD IT IS! Nutrition Tips 🥦 . Meal prepping can be overwhelming. Most people don't eat healthy because they don't know where to start. - . Your body needs protein throughout the day to keep you full and keep your body in a fat burning state. It also needs a source of energy (carbs or fats). Lastly, we need a variety of vegetables to provide the micronutrients to support a healthy metabolism and gut. - . I'm not fancy, I'm a picky eater, and I don't like to spends tons of money on food that will go bad. - . So, I keep it simple and efficient. 🙌🏻 - Here's a look at my day. - . Breakfast- Level 1 Protein Shake with PB (fat) *Opti greens (11+ servings of fruits and veggies) MicroFactor (ALL daily vitamins) . Mid morning- Tuna salad (protein), almonds (fat) Cucumber . . Lunch- Chicken (protein), Brown rice (carb), green beans . . Post workout shake (protein and carb) . Dinner (same as lunch) - . Normally, I would switch dinner, but this whole day cost me around $10 and 30 minutes of my time.
