Lately I have been more into waste-free shopping and Bulk Barn has been my go-to. I highly recommend if you are looking for health foods but don't wanna break the bank. I know I will never be completely waste free but cutting down on waste is better for the environment and less plastic packaging is better for our bodies! • • • • Plastics, even BPA free (they now contain BPS which is also terrible for us) leach chemicals that are endocrine disruptors called xenoestrogens. They are much more powerful than the natural estrogen that we produce ourselves which can be extremely dangerous to our health when it accumulates in the body. Estrogen dominance has been linked to breast, prostate and testicular cancer as well as infertility, PCOS, endometriosis and obesity. Being more aware and mindful of what foods and items are in plastic is something we should all take the time to do. Other endocrine disruptors are cleaning products, dyes, beauty products and being on hormonal birth control also puts us in a state of estrogen dominance. So the mix of all of these chemicals we come into contact with can put a h u g e strain on our bodies and liver. Plastic should DEFINITELY be avoided with any sort of oil or fat, storing acidic fruits, water/other beverages, and especially do not microwave plastic!! But that topic is a whole other post in and of itself lol. • • • • Moral of the story: start switching all of your plastic cups and dishes to glass, silicon or stainless steel to avoid hormone imbalancess that can turn into more serious diseases. In case you are overwhelmed and unsure of where to start - my post with all of my go-to products such as reusable bags, glass containers, jars, bottles, travel mugs, etc. will be up soon! Our health is an investment and we have to take care of both of our homes - our bodies and the Earth🌱

The most IMPORTANT relationship is one that we have with OURSELVES. We can’t expect for people in our lives to be there for us, to love us, to be nice to us, to have our backs, to treat us with respect or anything else if we don’t do it for ourselves FIRST. We have to be confident in who we are, love ourselves 100% (even if there are things we want to change), believe in our own goals and dreams and treat ourselves with respect first and foremost if we expect the people around us to do it too. The people in our lives are just mirrors of our inner relationship with ourselves. They reflect back to us the feelings we have about our bodies, minds and souls and are here to teach us, love us, break us down etc. so we can learn to be and do all of those things on our own. Here I am, getting ready for another work day, in scrubs + with my hair all over the place.. but I’m finally realizing (and internalizing) that I need to have my own back, be my own advocate, my own best friend, my own cheerleader, motivator and healer if I ever want those in my life to support me in those ways. Living with a #chronicillness can sometimes make us feel like we have no power over our current life situation. While the disease is still present, you DO have power over how to treat yourself. Have your own back, nourish your body with healthy food, MOVE, say nice things to yourself.. treat YOU like your BEST FRIEND and cultivate a loving relationship with you because it is the most crucial relationship that sets the tone for all of the other ones in our lives. Are there things about me that I would like to improve on? Of course! There is always room for growth.. but that doesn’t mean that I can’t treat myself WELL right now (psst.. the same goes for you! 🤗). No other relationships in our lives will ever be the deep, loving, genuine, supportive kind until we have that relationship with US. How are you cultivating that kind of relationship with you today? ✨ I LOVE ME.. and you should love YOU too. 💜

I remember growing up and my mom telling me about a recipe for Swiss Oats, soaking the oats in orange juice & milk. First day off my Shred10!! Feeling good & so happy having done it — 10 days of gentle detox by eliminating some major trigger foods such as gluten, dairy, alcohol, caffeine (🙁🙁), while flooding your body with whole foods. The hardest here for me was of course caffeine...I live for my morning ☕️. It’s just a routine though and I saw how quickly we can change habits & get used to new patterns! Ryan and I cut our Whole30 challenge in half by calling it quits on Sunday...but not for the reason you may think. By week 1 Ryan was ready to end it early and ease into a healthier diet. I’m always up for a good challenge, so I kept it going, even though my heart wasn’t in it. This time last year, I was practicing a completely plant-based diet. So when I was craving something hearty and had to settle for chicken and beef in place of rice and beans, it was disappointing. But I wouldn’t consider ending the challenge early a failure. Not by any means. I got my husband to start making some better food choices, which was my goal. And I stopped sugar cravings in their tracks 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

There are so many reasons why we may have tired eyes or low energy during the day as we go about our office duties form late nights to very early mornings with very little sleep 😴, days are shorter but packed full with work, to-do lists 📝are longer, and there seems to be a train of fast food 🥘 joints around every corner—if that's not a recipe for an expanding waistline, I’m not sure what is. One way to help boost your energy is by healthy living food: eating the right mix of protein, vitamins and minerals. And a quick way to get those are with protein-based smoothies🥤 Skin Re-energizer: Complexion-evening cucumber and free radical–fighting beets replenish balance to the skin when your concealer won’t do ladies. Ingredients include 1 1/2 cucumber, 2 celery stalk, 2 carrots, 1 cup beets, 1/2 handful parsley. Hello, honeynut 🍯🌰 This tiny butternut lookalike is exploding with concentrated squash flavor and intense sweetness. We get ours from @alewifefarm and Tyler Dennis, whose vegetables are so 👌, he supplies them to his mentor, @chefdanbarber. Plus, one right here: ✨ROASTED HONEYNUT W/ WINTER SPICE RUB✨ 2 honeynut squashes 1 tbsp olive oil ¼ cup maple syrup 2 tbsp pumpkin spice 2 tsp sweet paprika 1 tsp ground cinnamon ½ tsp black pepper ¼ tsp dried sage 2 tsp sea salt — 1. Preheat oven to 425° F. 2. In a bowl, whisk olive oil, maple syrup, all spices, and salt until combined. 3. Cut off the stem ends of each honeynut. Halve and deseed. 4. With a pastry brush (or let’s be real, your fingers), brush the spice rub over the cut side of each honeynut half. 5. Roast squashes in the oven for approximately 30 minutes. 6. Serve honeynut halves warm (like delicata, the skin is edible!)

I really enjoyed hot yoga last night but, and this was a surprise to me, I found it really difficult looking at myself in the mirror for 75 minutes. It made my uncomfortable because I didn't like what I was looking at. Truth! However, that is not because I am ugly, unworthy or any other put down. It's because I've been avoiding it for so long. But, I endeavour to look at myself in that mirror and feel neutral. So, same time next week I'll be at the front again. Showing up and being present and doing my best. Snack for today 🍎 Healthy alternative when you're craving apple pie: apple cinnamon oat bars 🙂 ... Skinny vs strong, 5 seconds apart 😳...(excuse my super dirty mirror). I see these posts all over Insta lately - posed vs not posed, flexed vs relaxed etc...this is just another example showing how depending on what you want to show off of yourself, you can stand and pose in a certain way to get the effect you want. I hope the popularity of these posts drills into people's heads that social media is a highlight reel where people show off their best selves. It can be so hard to look at other people's selfies and not covet them but it's important to remember that people don't always look like they portray themselves online! Best example: I've gotten tights sent from brands in the past that are way too small for me because from my pictures they gauge that I'm much smaller than I actually am, probs because I tend to post more pictures like the left than the right..🤔 But let's face it my legs aren't actually that skinny and I have a decent bootay, so I ain't fitting in no XXS 😁 The truth is we all post pictures of ourselves that we find the most flattering, and there really isn't anything wrong with that. Just be aware and remember this fact when you catch yourself comparing to picture perfect Insta fitness models. You will never have anyone else's body except your own, so focus your attention on that and take care of what you've got 🙏🏻
