Shift | It’s very easy to have tunnel vision. You get sucked into seeing this one thing in one way only, and it’s surprising how stubborn we are about it. We may take too much pride in that perspective to ever change it, or we are too comfortable with it to actually give ourselves the chance to step outside that mentality, and look for another way to view that issue. That narrow mindset of ours robs us from the chance to live a good life, to go beyond our wildest dreams, to unlock new potentials and possibilities, to explore the world, make new friendships, find companionship, and even live a life with as little stress as possible.
Sometimes we need to let go, let life take its course, and we need to go with the flow too. We should put effort into changing our perspectives and letting life help us know when to change our views, because a big problem we face can be solved in an instant if we just have the courage to allow ourselves to change.
This thought occurred to me as I was walking to the Kenmore T station, and I realized that looking at that stretch of Bay State Road from behind, I saw a lot of the beauty in that autumn road that I haven’t noticed before.
It’s these small things in life that surprise you and make you change, hopefully for the better. (Picture taken on my gorgeous campus @)
