Ok today we almost had chicken for dinner. Because... For months we noticed that Feisty wasn’t really laying many eggs. We would find one every other day or so.
Around the same time, my back porch smelled awful. I thought something had died and looked everywhere to find it unsuccessfully.
Tonight, I moved the grill (which I have not used all summer)...and an egg fell out of the grill cover. WHAT?? Moved the grill cover again and MORE eggs fell out. And then the smell hit me. Oh my gosh. Horrid!! Needless to say, there were about 15-20 eggs (ALL from Feisty) that she had layed all in the bottom of the grill cover!!! WTH?! So, turns out she WAS laying eggs. Just not in her nice big coop or comfy nesting box.
And she had been doing this for probably over a month and NO ONE saw her or had any idea!!! After cleaning up that lovely mess, she was nearly dinner tonight. But, I guess it’s good to know that she’s not really a freeloader like I thought 😂😂😂 #chickenproblems
