Another Art & Soul 2019 Featured Artist that we are proud to showcase this year is classical pianist, Joshua Thompson! Born and raised in Indianapolis, Joshua began taking piano lessons at the age of 5 and at the age of 10, added the study of classical trumpet to his musical education. Joshua attended DePauw University in Greencastle, IN originally as a trumpet performance major before earning his B.A. in Sociology.
After completing his undergraduate studies, Joshua continued to play both trumpet and piano while focusing on a career in social services. Joshua is on the board of directors with @ and performs regularly with the Marianne Tobias Music Program and @ He has worked with legendary bassist John Clayton and world-renowned operatic soprano, Angela Brown. In 2018, Joshua debuted the dynamic performance series, Village Voices: Notes from the Griot, in celebration of the unsung voices of Black composers and musicians. Village Voices premiered at @
