Chest has always been a lagging point in my physique, it’s a muscle group that is quite large so needs to be trained with progressive overload.
When you take a closer look at the chest we can see that it’s split into 3 different sections but we’ll keep it simple & call them upper, middle & lower, each section has muscle fibres which run in one direction, this shows how we should train them to trigger growth.
1. It’s very easy to let your front delts take over when performing chest exercises. It’s SO important to make sure you push your shoulders back & retract your scapula so all the metabolic stress is placed on the chest & not the front delts.
2. A really good way to make sure your contracting your chest as best as you can is to imagine at the end of each repetition you want to get your elbows to touch each other (obviously this isn’t possible but it’s a great technique to use)
3. LOWER THE WEIGHT, it’s important to understand the way the exercise works & why your doing it, FORM IS EVERYTHING.
