The Ultimate Power Bowl 🍜 GRAIN MIX BASE Ingredients: 1/4 cup white quinoa 1/4 cup red quinoa 1/4 cup green lentils 1/4 cup black lentils 2 cups water💦 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice🍋 1/2 teaspoon salt VINAIGRETTE BASE: 1/4 cup of your favorite vinegar, lime juice or lemon juice🍋 1 1/2 tablespoons minced onion, garlic, scallion or shallot 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon black pepper 1/2 cup olive oil Preparation: Make the grain base: Rinse the quinoa and lentils in a fine mesh strainer, then pour into a medium saucepan with 2 cups water. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Reduce the heat to medium-low, and simmer until the lentils and quinoa are tender and have absorbed all the water in the pot, about 20 minutes. Remove from the heat and let the pot sit, still covered, for 10 minutes. Stir in the parsley, lemon juice, and salt. Make-Ahead: The grains can be cooked up to 3 days in advance. Store in the refrigerator until ready to assemble and eat. Make the vinaigrette: Whisk the vinegar or lemon juice with the minced aromatics, salt, and pepper in a medium bowl. Let sit at room temperature for 10-15 minutes to let the flavors absorb and lesson their "bite." Vigorously whisk the olive oil into the vinegar to finish the dressing. Make-Ahead: Vinaigrette can be made up to 3 days in advance. Store in the refrigerator until ready to assemble and eat. Load your power bowl with toppings: Top 1/2 cup cooked grain mix with the following add-ins, or make your own bowl with what you've got in the fridge. Serve with one of the suggested vinaigrettes, or stir up something special to your taste. Don't be afraid to mix and match! // Hypogonadism just tells you that the testes aren't producing enough testosterone.⠀ // Osteoarthritis just tells you that there are degenerative changes within a joint. ⠀ // Supraspinatus tendinosis just tells you that there are degenerative changes within the supraspinatus muscle and or tendon. ⠀ // Post-concussion syndrome just tells you that there are non-specific but specific symptoms following a concussion.⠀ ⠀ Notice the pattern?⠀ ⠀ Most diagnosis are just going to tell you the end result, or the end condition, and not necessarily how someone got there in the first place. Now I will say that there are some situations that can at least target you in a bit closer, such as secondary hypogonadism which indicates that the reason the testes aren't producing testosterone is because they aren't getting the proper signal from the pituitary gland. But going one step further, the diagnosis of secondary hypogonadism doesn't tell you why the pituitary gland isn't giving the testes the correct signal. Follow me?⠀ ⠀ In my clinic, diagnoses are still important. But it's because we use the diagnosis to get deeper into the root cause so that we can address it.
