Today I would love to share the story of the client I have been treating the longest, the lovely Joanne Kemp. I will never forget meeting Jo, as it was in my very first week of being a new graduate physiotherapist. She had a complex history, had seen multiple practitioners and I remember thinking to myself, ‘what on earth am i going to do that is any different to anyone else’? But, as she reminds me these days, I took the time to talk her through her issues, promised that I would work with her to come up with strategies to help and after 7 years of being a physio, and even moving overseas and coming back, Jo has remained so loyal and I am so grateful that still to this day I am able to help.
A great lesson to any new grad physios out there; take the time to listen, and work with your patient not just on them, and you will set them up for success.
