Look, it is nice to think like Chris Traeger from Parks & Rec and believe that a hyperfocus on diet and exercise will make you live, disease and illness free, to 150. But reality is, Chris Traeger is a fictional character (although you may know people like him 😉). We aren't immortal and we aren't going to always experience 'perfect health'. . REPOST VIA @bodyimage_therapist: It will also not ensure you stay healthy, or exempt you from death. . At what point is someone's health status immoral - perceived or otherwise? Typically, 'I am being healthy' is synonymous with 'I am being good' because to 'seek health' through specific behaviours we assume are healthy means one is good. Did you know that the ability to gain weight is a sign of health too? When you're sick, your body's ability to recover is also a sign of health. . Having good health means being a contributing citizen (and we can even bring religion into this but there's only so much space!). In a capitalist society, bodies need to have a capacity to produce capital and spend it, and that relies on a specific level of health to partake. . Fat people are stereotyped as less healthy, the cause of their assumed ill health, and deemed less likely to contribute to a capitalist system, whilst simultaneously taking from it (enter outraged voices of tax payers and health costs). They are seen as holding up only one end of the bargain. Due to the assumption that fat people are personally responsible for their ill health, there is a higher level of prejudice towards them. . I will repeat this over and over - health is not a moral obligation. Discrimination and prejudice towards individuals and groups actually diminishes health. This is a human rights issue - and there's no weight limit for who is entitled to human rights.

Paleo Protein Pancakes 🥞 . Whipped up a batch of these delicious, fluffy pancakes for brekkie today. They will defs be repeated over the weekend! Too delicious 😋 If you want to impress your loved ones, I highly recommend making these too! They taste decadent, yet they're grain free and won't leave your feeling bloated or sluggish. Yay! You can top them with whatever you fancy: nut butter, fruit, coconut flakes, bacon... whatever! . RECIPE: makes 2 generous stacks 1 large very ripe banana 🍌 1 cup dairy free milk of choice 🥛 1/2 cup buckwheat flour 🌰 4 whole eggs 🥚 1 or 2 scoops vanilla protein powder (I used @bodybywild vegan vanilla) Blend all ingredients until smooth. Spoon about 1/2 ladle full of mixture into a non-stick pan or skillet and cook over medium heat. When the pancake starts to bubble it's time to flip it! Stack your pancakes high, drizzle with all sorts of delicious things. Eat with joy! 🤤😆❤️ . . Foyer Renovation: The blue doors 💙, easily one of my favorite things about the foyer renovation! I consider the front doors a statement piece. My doors are.. Simple & Classic.. But Bold. 🔸Originally a single door with sidelights on each side (swipe to see the before picture) 🔸Doors are semi custom from @doorsofelegance. We purchased a set of standard doors from them that were too big for the opening (purposely), and they cut it to fit. 🔸Color is @benjaminmoore Hail Navy. Ugh, I just loveee it. (Inside is painted Atrium White, also from Benjamin Moore.) 🔸I limewashed the brick in @romabiopaints Classico. I actually used a sponging technique. Less messy, and I liked the look of the finished product more than the painting/rinsing method. (Wear gloves if you decided to sponge!) 🔸We have plans to switch out the outdoor sconces, but not any time soon. 🔸The sassss that came with my daughter was lagniappe.

Pranzo di oggi ❤ Panino con philadelphia e melanzane cotte al forno condite con il curry! Scusate veramente l'assenza ma non riesco più a realizzare dei pranzi degni di essere fotografati... In questo periodo sto frequentando l'università e sinceramente mi sto trovando molto bene con l'Intuitive Eating: mangio in base a cosa ho voglia senza contare più i macros (come ho fatto in questi ultimi due mesi da quando ho terminato il percorso con la nutrizionista). Ora mangio secondo il mio intuito ma consapevole di ciò che assumo. Ad esempio, oggi a pranzo mangerò: i carboidrati del pane, le proteine e i grassi della philadelphia e una porzione di verdure. Per spuntino credo che mangerò 25 g di frutta secca che compro ai distributori dell'università. Dopo più di una settimana che mangio secondo il mio intuito devo dire che sta andando benissimo sia a livello fisico che mentale. Fisicamente il mio corpo si sta molto "asciugando" mentre a livello mentale preferisco occuparmi di cose più importanti invece di stare sempre con un telefono in mano ad inserire dosi di ingredienti e a preoccuparmi di raggiungere la quota proteica. Quindi... не люблю когда что-то идёт не по плану . ошибки сразу заставляют меня сдаться . НО НЕ В ЭТОТ РАЗ. __ вчера (19.09) перед сном я сильно переела. я съела 20 слив (мал) и ооочень большую булку (как пол батона хлеба ахах) . думаю это связано с тем , что когда я питалась «по голоду» я все же недоедала т.е. грубо говоря не набирала свою норму по калориям . __ честно , стыдно во всем этом признаваться , но Я БУДУ УЧИТЬСЯ НА СВОИХ ОШИБКАХ и становиться лучше :)))

I’ve been trying to have at least three different dinners each week. We all focus on weight as the one determinant of ed recovery but now that I’m weight restored, I want every other aspect of my life to be restored. I want to go to the supermarket and be like damn I know I was going to make risotto but I actually really feel like tacos 🌮 Isn’t weird how a decision as simple as that can still fire up ED thoughts 🤦‍♀️ it’s like ED just never wants you to enjoy a meal because thats against the rules. Another awesome find from the Hill’s Garlic Festival a couple weekends ago! ~ ✨ I WISH TO HELP YOU HELP YOURSELF - MY DREAM✨~ Even if you’re surrounded by people who loves you and would like to help you, you have to walk down the main path on your own. It’s your life, it’s your body, it’s your mind, it’s your emotions and it’s your soul. Not theirs. It’s amazing to be supported and when they can help us with practical stuff or unconditional love it’s also important to allow them; but nobody can “save” us. We have to deep down save and do the main work ourselves. The same with therapeuts etc. They help us and brings us tools to help ourselves 💖 WE have to face our fears, WE have to get up everyday and do what we know is right for us 💕 But as I mentioned, it does help when someone can help you through supporting you and giving you tools on how to do this yourself. This is some of my main goals in my life 👉 In the future I want to help you to help yourself 💕 To help you love yourself, release the traumas etc. So you can be authentic and live the life your coresoul desire ✨ I will do this through being supportive, helping with clearance and an overview, diving deep with you so you don’t always have to face everything on your own inside of you. To help you reintergrate aspects which have been rejected. To help you to have the tools to help yourself through selfcare/selflove, innerchild work, shadowwork, clairvoyance, cacaoceremonies, psychology, increasing your intuition, mindfulness, meditation, getting a healthier body through diet, yoga etc., where you learn to listen the body instead of figthing against it - with the mind too. How to structure your life in a way which is in alignement with your soul and dreams. Tools on beginning to feel again and allowing what is without judging it as good or bad. How to begin to love yourself and getting to know yourself on another level 💖 I’m not perfect at all, and I learn all the time too. This will NEVER change, and it shouldn’t. Because life is a path which changes all the time - just like we are. Deep down I believe we are all just souls having an human experience and this needs to be honored and cherished ✨ ‘Cause it’s quite amazing, when se begin to love ourselves💕 #selflove #guidance

Happy Thursday!!! So we flew to London yesterday for a dear friends wedding happening this weekend. On board we had lunch. My choices were cold trout with cream cheese. Also a side of feta marinated in olive oil and garlic🤤🤤 and some Olives. Along with some Cloudy Bay Sauvignon blanc. Main course was simply a roasted lemon chicken breast. It was all tasty and kept me going. For dinner we had some homemade delicious Indian food. I like to try and keep things simple and small when traveling😊😋 Breakfast this morning? Das blöde dabei ist, dass wir dieses kritische Stimmchen mit uns herumtragen. Jeden Tag, jede Stunde, jede Sekunde... loswerden können wir es nicht. Aber auf jeden Fall lernen mit ihm umzugehen, um es dünner und unwichtiger werden zu lassen. 💁‍♀️💕 ~~~ Ich beobachte mein eigenes kritisches Stimmchen jetzt schon eine Zeit lang... Manchmal hat es Recht, manchmal auch nicht... GALETTE DULCE 🍭 . . Había probado ha hacerlas saladas pero en su versión dulce nunca las había hecho y ya me decidí a probarlas 🤤 . . Como siempre, os dejo ingredientes para que os animéis a hacerlas 😉Guárdatela!!!! . . - 100 gr de harina de avena - 50 gr de harina de coco @energy_feelings que podéis encontrar en la web @fitstore_es - 50 ml de aceite de Oliva - 80 ml de agua - 1 cucharada de Vainilla líquida - Pizca de sal . Mezclar bien todos los ingredientes hasta que la masa no se nos pegue en las manos. Dependiendo de la harina que utilicéis necesitareis más o menos harina y agua. Envolvemos la masa en un papel film y la dejamos reposar en el frigorífico medía hora. Pasado ese tiempo solo nos queda estirar la masa y formar la Galette. En mi caso he hecho tres pequeñitas y con distinta fruta ( plátano 🍌 melocotón 🍑 e higos ) Pintar con huevo batido los bordes y meter al horno precalentado unos 25 minutos a 200 °C . . Chocolate orange protein waffling this morning 🍫🍊😉 . Super fluffy, swipe 🔜, chocolate waffles made with my faves @kin_nutrition dark choc vegan protein and @twochicksproducts egg whites, 🔑 whisk them for the volume 👌. Grated in a little orange zest to give them a bit of zing. I cant believe its only been 4 weeks since we left South Africa and returned to Saudi Arabia. In many ways it feels like we never even left the Kingdom. The memories of our vacation r still fresh in our minds but this year our boys' transition back into life here has been remarkably smooth. They still talk about our Cape Town home and family and friends and our truck but unlike last year, no tears accompany the reminiscing. I am truly thankful for this, it makes my own longing easier to deal with. Its the end of the work week and day 20 of the Whole30. By now i can say im over it. Thats how i feel about it. I havent given up tho, i just "feel" over it. Besides all the non scale victories i just miss the freedom i exercise in my 80/20 chosen way of eating. If anyone wud have told me, i wud b able to stay away from cheese for 20 days or make tomato gravy with only dates to sweeten it, or happily eat a salad for lunch on more than 2 days consecutively id have laughed at the thought. If anything, this 20 days has taught me a few things about myself i never did know 😊 Growing up in a Cape Malay home, much of our food was served with rice - roti - bread - pasta or some other form of primary starch. Potatoes were a standard in daily meals and lentils - beans or dhals on the menu once a week atleast. I now look back at how different my meals have become over the years and i smile at the growth. Wot started out as a weightloss journey progressed into so much more. Currently, this is more about my overall health than just my weight. I started this page not only to share recipes but to create an awareness. An awareness of wot it is we put into our bodies which often r reasons for our diseases and illness. I want people to know that we can eat nutritious food and still eat lekker. I see pictures of people already with weight issues stuffing their faces with cakes and delights and i feel so so sad. THAT was me, i was that kid who grew up to bcome an obese adult with diabetes, hypertention and a host of other ailments. Please dont disadvantage your family by allowing these types of things into their lives often. A common saying among our people is "os likes lekker iet"

So delicious and kind of autumnal, even if here in Italy it still looks like summer! My head is at a crazy place today ruined the florals I was painting,put it aside for another day, tried another go at a large one I had started, well that was not working too, finally washed all my brushes and put it all away but I still wanted to paint. This is most of my weight journey since June 2017. I've removed the stones on the side cos I don't want you to know my weight 😅 The key to losing weight is consistency, not being to hard on yourself when you aren't consistent 100% and meal prepping! We still have to live our lives and a meal out or a cookie or three (or more) one evening isn't going to mess everything up if you go back the next day or the next meal to healthy eating. We shouldn't be too hard on ourselves and realise we are human. When you're in a calorie deficit or not, your body will have craving and you can choose your battles - so to speak - on whether to give into the craving that time or ride it out. We've got to learn how to deal with our cravings in the long run. I've been pretty much maintaining my weight since my holiday in June, up and down abit but not much change downwards. I became immobile from being burn so bad on my thighs and then had an operation. I struggled to get back into my routine after 8 weeks not being in my routine and I forgot how vital meal prepping is for me. If food isn't prepared, I'm less likely to eat something balanced and I will snack. I feel snacking leads me to more snacking and I overconsume! This week I started meal prepping like I was previously and felt like I was in the kitchen less, had more time and freedom while eating a balanced diet and this will help me achieve my goals. #weightloss #weightlossjourney #vegan #orlistat #xenical #UAT #underactivethyroid #intuitiveeating #UATweightloss #healthyeating

It’s crazy to think that I’m over 20kg heavier than my lightest weight, 20kg heavier than the weight I told myself I wouldn’t be allowed out of the house or seen in public if I went over by a gram. It’s crazy to think that REGARDLESS of that number on the scale, I am now the happiest and healthiest mentally that I have ever been. I don’t place my self worth on numbers anymore. I don’t stick to a strict diet whatsoever and there are some weeks where I only train 3-4 times depending on how I feel. This wouldn’t be possible if I wasn’t surrounded by the people I surround myself with now. It wouldn’t be possible if I didn’t have the job I have or the passion I have for helping other women. If I didn’t have this passion, I would’ve stopped fighting. By helping others and watching them grow and become the people they were meant to be all along, they have helped ME grow and become the person I was meant to be all along. You must always be POSITIVE. . You're not allowed to: be angry, change parts of your body, smoke, date someone "different", prefer time on your own, eat sweets, be promiscuous, hate green juice, et al. . It keeps us from being able to show up and be present in our lives. . @chr1styharrison talks about diet culture as being a "life thief" which I think is just such a fantastic metaphor for how diet culture can steal our attention and keep us from living our lives to their fullest. .
