Waffle Wednesday who? Feasting on the biggest plate of banana PB n’ J paleo pancakes 🥞😋 the perfect fuel before heading to the gym with my manzzzz 😎 happy hump day loves ❣️ Deetz below 👇🏽 • • • • • • • PB N’ J PALEO CAKES 🥞 1 smashe banana, @birchbenders paleo pancake mix, 1 tsp cinnamon, 1 tsp vanilla extract. Mix pancake mix according to directions. Once well mixed, add in the banana, cinnamon and vanilla extract. Place on a hot griddle sprayed w/ coconut oil or ghee and cook pancakes until golden brown on each side! Blueberry chia jam 3/4 cup frozen blueberries 1 tsp @salbachia chia seeds 1 tsp vanilla extract 1/4 cup filtered water Add all ingredients to a small sauce pan on low-med heat. Once the water starts to come a soft boil and the blueberries start popping, turn off heat and stir. When I first began experiencing symptoms I was plagued by negative thoughts and thought that anxiety was necessary for getting shit done. I didn’t realize it but I thrived off chaos and an expectation of the worst. . Of course, my first reaction wasn’t self empowerment, that wasn’t my default. I was stuck on the life sucks setting. . Therefore, my life sucked - hard. Even when I began attempting to think positively it was short lived and met with skepticism. . I still battle that voice. It tells me that things could get worse any second. It tells me that positive thinking is stupid and doesn’t work. But I know it does and I’ll continue to tell myself that I am bold, brave, and beautiful in the face of fear, doubt, and hardship.

The thing about this journey is that you need to keep going. ✨ I can’t stay in bed because I feel awful from having pizza and wine the night before. I’m talking guilt and body shaming. 😔 I can’t miss my work out because my thoughts are telling me to give up, your diet is horrible, it’s a waste of time, you’re never going to get anywhere. 👆🏼 Those thoughts are NOT okay. Those thoughts are destructive and DO have the power to hold you back, IF you let them. I’m not going to let them. 👋🏼 The truth I hold onto is, I’m still healthier when I work out. Most of the time I need to rely on outside wisdom rather than resorting to my own perspective. On a lot of things. I might have been in a terrible mood doing it this morning, but I got through anyways. When/why did it start being ok (even idealized) to constantly be pushing yourself an unhealthy amount to reach “perfect”? Always study, no fun for perfect grades. Always grind, no rest for the perfect muscles. Always healthy food, nothing “unhealthy” for that perfect bod. Always socialize/party on weekends, no staying in for the perfect social life. Where’s the break? Where’s the self care? It’s so important to remember to take a step back and take care of yourself or else you will run yourself to the ground. So yes i ubered a mile to the gym today because my body told me to. I would’ve never in the past but self care is so much important to me now than being perfect or “not lazy”. Week 6 of loosely tracking calories/eating intuitively. So I didn’t blow up into the Michelin man 🤣Did I gain weight? Yeah. Do I feel happier? Big time. I have so much more time now, time I wasted counting calories eaten, burned, stressing. I lost time with my family because I’d be sitting there spaced out in my tiny jeans worrying whether breakfast was worth the 200 calories. My sanity is totally worth the weight gain. 👍🏻 def not perfect, my hunger cues are out of whack and sometimes I eat when I’m not hungry but I trust that my body will relearn how to eat like a normal person! HOLY S*** ______ You guys are going to be blown away by one of @seanperich finest creations‼️ ______ Half granola bar, half protein bar... ______ These are just FortiFx prototype samples & not available to the general public quite yet. I am fortunate enough to work for Sean and be able to try such bars. But let me tell you when I say that this bar is UNREAL, I mean it. I have never tasted anything like it. I can’t even tell if it’s a nutritional protein bar or an actual candy bar😳 ______ The chocolate tastes almost like there are cocoa puffs inside. 😍 The peanut butter... well the peanut butter just speaks for itself. Update on my 2018 goals: I have been eating so much better. By filling my belly with mostly vegetables, fruits, proteins, and healthy fats, I’m left feeling satisfied and not craving more all the time. I’m not depriving myself of sweets though, just limiting how many I consume! A life without goodies is not a life I want to live, anyhow. I’m down 13 pounds so far from diet alone. I went to the gym the day before yesterday and I’m going back today. Tbh I’m so proud of myself because I usually give up after 2 or 3 days of dieting. It’s different this time though, because I’m doing it for myself and not because I feel like society is making me. That is all. Here is a picture of some yummy food from @brassicashortnorth 😋

Brussels and bacon for breakfast (leftover from dinner last night) with 2 fried eggs and a little fruit.🍽 ‼️The USDA estimates that 30% of our food supply is lost or wasted. I used to be among the worst when it came to throwing out food. It kind of hurts my heart to think back to all the perfectly good food I threw away.💔 Everything changed a few years ago when I read a book called “Waste: Uncovering The Global Food Scandal” by Tristram Stuart. It was eye opening and deepened my love for nutrition education. ✨Next month we will be teaching our 4H girls about Food Product Dating and while I was preparing the lesson, it occurred to me how many people may not understand the date label on their food products. Often times we see these dates on our food as expiration dates and assume the food must be tossed but this is in fact, wrong! ✳️”Best if Used By/Before” tells you when the product is at it’s highest flavor or quality ✳️”Use By” tells you the last date recommended that the product is at peak quality ❎❎These are NOT purchase or safety/expiration dates! (The only exception is infant formula!) ▪️To know if your food is bad - use your senses. Taste, smell, physical signs of spoilage indicate the food is no longer good, NOT the dates on the product! ➡️One of my biggest resolutions this year was to continue to cut down on our food waste. I’m most guilty of putting leftovers veggies in a container and sticking them in the back of the fridge where I forget about them. I’ve been making a conscious effort to use them up, even at breakfast time! I have people tell me all the time how positive and upbeat I am and although I appreciate those comments, I want to remind you that I'm human and although it may seem like I'm always chipper on here, I have bad days just like everyone else. I have days when I have to remind myself of my worth and search for words to comfort me. When I have those days, I listen to a specific song on the Dear Evan Hansen soundtrack- the finale. The reason I look to this song for guidance is because of the lyric "today is going to be a good day and here's why, because today at least you're you and that's enough". It reminds me that I am enough just being me. It reminds me that I don't have to pretend to be someone I'm not. It reminds me that I don't have to do big and life changing things every day in order to prove my worth. It reminds me that everyday is a good day, because everyday I am me and that's more than enough 💛

💜 Since 2012, I tried pretty much every “diet/healthy technique” out there. Strictly clean eating (never again), IIFYM, DIET PILLS, detox, No Carbs After Dark…you name it! At the end, I’ve realized that regardless of the dedication I put into these techniques, they weren’t something I can sustain for a lifetime. When you opt for a quick fix, you will get quick non-lasting results. THIS is not a fad diet guys. We should look at this as a “lifestyle change” where the first recipe in fueling your body and soul in the right direction is from S E L F - L O V E.
