🥜NUTRITION IN LEGUMES BY @davidclearyveganpt . 🤔Let me know your favourite below?⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️ . 🍽A staple in any plant-based diet, they include beans, lentils, peas and some nuts like peanuts! . 😋Legumes are a great source of macronutrients like protein, carbs and with little fat in most and lots of fiber. They are also packed with micronutrients like folate, potassium, iron and magnesium. These vary between beans and lentils, but they are definitely something worthy of adding into your diet, even if you’re not currently vegan. . 🥣So how do I add them in? Some dishes I enjoy are a red lentil curry, 5 bean chilli, homemade BBQ baked beans, cooking some beans with rice & veg & obviously hummus! . 🥜You can cook from dried, which is what the measurements are above, or you can buy canned which are pre-cooked. 100g canned beans will not yield the same values per 100g as above as they are filled with water, but in generally 100g dried will become 200-250g cooked. . 🌱I’ve included 6 popular ones above, but there’s plenty more. Overall they contain approximately 330 calories, 20-25g protein, 40-50g carbs and over 10g of fiber per 100g uncooked. Soybeans have slightly different macros, with higher protein and fats. . 🚿If you’re struggling to digest beans, make sure you rinse them thoroughly, start with 20g, don’t overdo it with other fiber rich foods in the same meal, try cooking them from scratch yourself or simply try a different option, You will digest some better than others! .

So I never post content like this but I got speaking to my coach @benheron_s2s today and we got chatting about our WHY’s to helping people through coaching and he asked me ‘what’s your why’.. it took me a few seconds but i just said the first thing that came to my mind.. - - I love helping people lose weight. It’s not just the losing some body-fat in 4 weeks. I love watching people’s lives change, every thing from sleeping better, enjoying training, in better moods, feeling awesome, better work/life balance, better relationships with other half/ kids. It’s more than just a job, there’s actual emotion in helping people and there’s going to be people saying faggot, fruit, all the crap they can say but through self developing myself over the last few years, I couldn’t care less about what people say. - - Just wanted to express why I do what I do, helping people change they’re lives through training & nutrition. That’s what gets me up in the morning, that’s what gets me fired up! If your struggling to find your WHY in life, look at what makes you happy and do more of that. - - Coach con out✌🏽

Today for the first time in ages I really struggled with my routine in the gym🤷🏼‍♀ ✖️ I couldn't understand why what I usually do felt so incredibly difficult and began to get really annoyed. I went through all the variables I felt could effect my workout so early on: 💤I had a great sleep 🍽️I had a nutritious breakfast 🏋🏼‍♀️I was starting with a weight I usually do ☺️I didn't feel particularly stressed ☕I had a coffee before leaving the house 👟I had suitable footwear for the exercise I was carrying out 🛌🏽I had taken two full days off the gym to rest 🎧I had my earphones in as normal which helps encourage me ✖️ I then realised it's normal to have an 'off' day as I always hear people and clients say they have. Today I really struggled in the gym and that's normal. Walking to work, taking the stairs, house work etc 🚶‍♀️ - 🖤 Lift WEIGHTS and dont just depend on CARDIO( cardio is also good but a good mix of both is better) ..! No girls it wont make you bulky and you dont have to lift very heavy, light weight and high reps is perfect too for getting lean 💪 - 🖤Increase PROTEIN intake 🍗🍖🍳 And no guys it does not make you bulky..! ( aim for 1g of protein for kg of body weight if tracking cals - 🖤 VOLUME must exist in your meals 🥗🥦🥕 Add veggies and salad to all your meals as the fibre content will keep you fuller for longer , you will also have a bigger plate of food for very little extra calories 😉 - 🖤Increase WATER intake 💦 -drinking water has way to much benefits to name, but it should be consumed throughout the day everyday to improve digestion, reduce water weight( bloating) and keep you hydrated ☺️ - Hope this helps guys 💗💕

I’m just gonna say it, the tricep kickback is a pretty terrible exercise 🙅‍♀️ - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Due to the fact that most of the movement involves you pushing the dumbbell backwards towards the wall as opposed to upwards towards the ceiling (see first video), gravity doesn’t play a big role in the majority of the exercise, and working against gravity is essential to make a dumbbell/barbell exercise effective! - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Think of the other common dumbbell/barbell exercises: the bench press, the bicep curl, the shoulder press, the bent over dumbbell row... What do they have in common? You are pulling or pushing the weight upwards towards the ceiling i.e directly against gravity which is acting downwards, making the exercise a challenge 💪 - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - In relation to a dumbbell or barbell alternative, there are plenty! However, I do like the tricep lying dumbbell extension (see second video), especially for hitting the inside of the tricep 🙌 - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Tag a friend who needs to see this 😯

It got me down the last few months not being able to lift the same weight I did before and even the progress I made with things like pull ups I let slip cos I was trying to concentrate on too many things. It made me realise I can't do everything when it comes to exercise as much as I would love to. Doing too much can have its setbacks and boy did I get that when I lost the strength I had. Grocery shop basics 🥦💚 People often think that healthy eating is more complicated & expensive than it is... 🥗 But it doesn't have to be... 😄 Find a few meals that you like, and eat them on repeat... Vary them slightly so you don't get bored 🥕🥝🌶️ Research has shown that people who eat the same meals / foods often tend to be more consistent with their weight - logically this makes sense, if you are eating the same foods a lot your calories probably aren't changing a lot ⚖️🔑 You can whip up decent, balanced meals, in very little time, with almost zero kitchen skills - if you put in a little bit of effort 👌 1️⃣ Pick your protein 2️⃣ Pick your carb /starch 3️⃣ Pick your veggies & flavourings Ideas: 😄 🍳 Brekkie - eggs, spinach, toast / oats, yogurt, fruit 🥘 Lunches & Dinners - omelette / sandwiches / pasta bolognese / mince + potatoes / fritatta / sausage + mash / Quorn + roasted veggies / veggie soup / stir-fry ... 🍎 Snacks - Melba toasts with babybel / yogurt / oats / veggie sticks / boiled eggs / fruit 🍭 Sweet Treats - sugar free jelly / options hot chocolate (generally I don't buy biscuits etc - the temptation isn't so strong if it's not in the cupboard! 👙🔑) These are just some options... You MUST eat breakfast. - Your mammy told you. - While your mammy was right about making your bed, eating your vegetables and not picking your nose, she is wrong about this I’m afraid. - The necessity of eating breakfast is just something everyone knows and takes as the truth. - “If you don’t eat breakfast your body will go into starvation mode” - Your body doesn’t just go into starvation mode after an extra couple of hours with no food. - You just slept for 8 hours with no food and your body seems to have survived ok without eating itself. - “If you don’t eat breakfast you won’t be able to concentrate” - Lack of concentration is generally a more individual thing, however there are studies that demonstrate little difference between kids who eat and do not breakfast when asked to complete a cognitive performance test. - Another point worth mentioning is that a lot of people will have had some sort of food close to their bedtime. - You have not managed to excrete that food and use up all the energy from it in the span of an extra couple of hours! - “You are more likely to store body fat if you don’t breakfast” - An irrelevant statement once you understand energy balance. - Could you be hungrier if you don’t eat breakfast and thus eat more calories? Of course. - But you could also just forget about breakfast and you’ve now saved 300+ calories. - It’s down to the individual. - Placing huge importance on any one meal throughout the day is misguided. - It’s what you do most of the time that counts, not some of the time. - If you enjoy breakfast and it allows you to stick to your goals easier, then fire away. Equally, if you like to skip it and eat later in the day, that is fine too. - Just make sure you are eating a decent meal if you are having breakfast. - Orange juice and cereal are poor choices since you’re just eating a load of sugar. - Choose filling foods like eggs, oats or a protein smoothie. - Breakfast is no more or no less important than lunch, brunch, afternoon tea, dinner or supper. - Don’t miss the forest for the trees. - Take your whole diet into context. - #reachyourpotential

P R O D U C T R E V I E W 🍫 This @namedsport crunchy protein bar was coconut dream flavour. It was part of a recent delivery from @leydenssportsnutrition 🍫 This afternoon, I had this as a treat. I have tried other types of protein bars from @namedsport as well as different flavours of his bar. This bar was better than the previous one. Elements were lovely and some were awful. For me the chocolate coating is lovely as was the caramel. It wasn't too sweet and the centre was chewy and but not tasteless like the previous bar. When it comes to weight loss nutrition is so much more important than exercise🍕 . The reason being.. It is much easier and quicker to eat lots of calories than it is to burn them off(think how easy it is to eat pizza and watch netflix compared to a tough gym session)🤔 . Alot of people think that its ok to eat that mcdonalds after the gym cause they trained for 2 hours but this is not the case.. all this hard work in the gym is quickly undone🙈 . To lose weight and be successful you need to combine the two. You need to eat the right amounts of the right types of food and shape your body by training and building muscle🏋️‍♀️

🌎🌎🌎🌎 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Past experiences and what I’ve learnt. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I suppose my life’s been short-ish, but there’s been a lot of things I’ve learned, at times I’ve been surprised by the outcomes of things and what’s come from them but I’ve learned that there’s something to learn with everything you do. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ One thing I’ve learnt is it’s okay not to be the same as everyone else. From very young I tried to fit into a box of what ideal was. I remember wondering why my family rarely sat down to have dinner together, why our house was always messy, why everyone I knew had some sort of pet and I spent all my years (up until I got Muffin) wondering why I never had one. ⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I remember one time aged 8, I was sad because I never had my cast signed like everyone else, you know one for a broken arm? Well I never got it signed because I’d never broken a bone- so one day I moulded some wet tissue around my arm, I let it dry then headed off into school with my ‘broken’ arm the next day. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Ive learnt (stereotypically) that every good thing comes to an end🙂 And that’s because everything does. My biggest loss was my dad oh along with my Bratz umbrella I left that in the train station one day (my umbrella not my dad). And although they’ve both left a hole in my heart, I’ve learnt to make the most of things right now rather than dwell on what I could’ve done to stop them happening. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I’ve also learnt that sometimes, the only thing holding us all back is ourselves. You can want to do / day / be anything you want to be, but if you’re spending your time in fear of taking action, just know if you do whatever that thing may be, right now, you’ll spend a lot less time worrying about the outcome.

For me the white chocolate coating is lovely. But the raspberry was too sweet and the centre is chewy and tasteless. It was quite chewy and had the texture of an old style protein bar.
