After a brief pesto-making demonstration and wine tasting at a 16th century castle, we wound our way along the cliffs to a lighthouse cafe overlooking the sea for drinks and ice cream. It was a 40 minute walk along the turquoise water and lush, fragrant flowers that many people in town for the Falo Di San Giorgio didn’t bother to see so our group had the place to ourselves. After returning to the piazzetta, we indulge in wine and pizza and watched them build the giant bonfire that the locals would hope would crash towards the sea bringing the town good fortune for the coming year. Unfortunately our ship had to leave port so we missed the bonfire and fish grill, but something I’ll certainly be returning to witness in my lifetime. 😊 pictures of the setup of the bonfire in my insta-stories!
