Just opened a rare gem:
2011 Lunae Bosoni “Numero Chiuso” Vermentino Colli di Luni DOC from vineyards in the hills of Ortonuovo, Liguria - only 2600 bottles produced.
8 months in stainless steel followed by 14 months on lees in small barrels and an additional 2 months ageing in the bottle.
Deep lemon with light gold tinges developing further with ageing.
Intense, floral bouquet of camomile flowers citrus, fresh Mediterranean herbs such as thyme, pear, lychee as well as iodine notes
On the palate it is fresh, savoury with balsamic and mineral notes where you can really sense the presence of the sea. Lovely almond and balanced acidity in its long finish.
A rich, complex, full bodied wine with excellent ageing potential. Delicious paired with linguine with vongole...just perfect for today!
