After a long absence I'm back with another expanded universe file!
Ceratosaurus is a genus of theropod dinosaur that originated from Late Jurassic North America, Africa and Europe. It's a medium sized carnivore characterized by deep jaws that support proportionally very long teeth, a prominent, blade-like horn on the midline of the snout and a pair of hornlike ridges over the eyes. The forelimbs are very short but remain fully functional; the hand possess four fingers. The tail is deep from top to bottom. A row of small osteoderms (skin bones) is present down the middle of the neck, back, and tail.
It was successfully recreated in 1999 by InGen in the Embryonics Administration lab on Isla Sorna and raised in captivity before being shipped to Isla Nublar.
Like all of InGen's cloned theropods Ceratosaurus has pronated wrists, and like many other cloned dinosaurs it's bigger than its prehistoric counterpart, being 3 meters in height and 9 meters in lenght. The clones have a red head, neck, and upper back, and a creamy body with dark stripes.
Ceratosaurus, once thought to be strictly a scavenger, is an aggressive and voracious predator that targets mainly smaller preys, including humans: this dinosaur has proven to be very dangerous to the park staff many times.
Ceratosaurs are solitary predators that only come together to eat the cattle supplied from the feeders; they eat almost everything from their kills, even most of the organs, but they always leave the intestines intact. In fact, the park keepers discovered that Ceratosaurus has an aversion for strong odors like dung: they even bury their own excrement.
