Today, my message is about perfection.
At its most basic - it's not attainable. Most of us, logically know this, but strive to attain it anyway. I think this is because many of us secretly think, feel, believe that we are (or should be) above the laws of the Universe. Superwoman. Superman. Magical. Happy Potters and Hermione Graingers.
This perfection - it's a nagging little voice that keeps reminding us - of all the things on our todo list, of all the reasons we don't deserve to rest, or relax, or eat. It's really a whiney little B, that if we're honest needs have it's mouth duct taped shut (and perhaps locked in a closet.) This creature of perfection is pitiable though, because he will never be happy. Your best isn't good enough. And good enough isn't good enough. He is always unhappy, sad, and filled with disappointment. Mostly because he doesn't even know what perfection would look like if he saw it. Do you?
With regard to food and weight this can look like obsession. Calories needing to be lower. Macros needing to be perfect. Everything needing to be "just so." And that's getting into dangerous territory.
Don't try to be perfect - you can never do that. Try to make progress. And realize that everything is progress. Even "getting it wrong" is progress because you gain clarity.
Being "perfect" wouldn't make you like yourself any more, and it certainly wouldn't make anyone else like you either. In fact, they'd probably dislike you. LOL Jealous much?
Just do the best that you can. Grow as you go.
