I feel like aside from this weekend, I haven't had breakfast in weeks. During the week, I've been enjoying fasting until I get home from work. On my days off I typically walk around all day, but now that I've been given orders to cool it on the physical activity until this med cycle is over, I'm not sure what I'll fill my morning with... Maybe it will be breakfasts!
Today I opted for homemade spicy pork sausage patties, dippy egg, a sliver of avocado, and kohlrabi hash. Kohlrabi is a great substitute for potato, particularly when fried. This serving is 130g and ends up being about 1 cup shredded raw kohlrabi, ends up at around 3-3.5 net carbs. I squeezed the shreds to remove excess water, and fried in butter and Montreal steak spice.
I used to eat an entire plate of hashbrowns for breakfast because I didn't eat meat or eggs and despite not loving potatoes, options at breakfast joints were slim. That single plate of hashbrowns would sit around 150-200g carbs! Crazy to think that is the amount of carbs is more than a week's worth for most of us!
There are things that used to be staples in my diet that I can't ketofy - dates, ripe bananas, oatmeal - but I'm glad there are some lower sugar options for things I used to enjoy.
Happy Sunday, y'all. ⛅
