A wrong thing on a right day!!!!😱As we do on Sundays we all went off to church, my sons and I love our church and my sons have great friends there. So off we go, it was all going well until we got there and my oldest son couldn’t keep his body still for even 30 seconds, and went crazy by doing every “naughty” ( hate that word) he could think of...... ever had that experience..... Ahhhhhh.😤😫😩
I thought about it at the time and said we should go do something else, but he still wanted to stay for kids church (Sunday school ). So after two or three times sitting down and making him try to understand that it’s not the right behaviour, he went off and had fun. Came back to me and was still all over the place. Ok ok ok. Breathe. I said. What’s going on here, he’s licking everything, he’s rolling around on the floor, he’s not making eye contact, he’s not listening, what’s does all that mean I said to myself??
He’s tried, he’s a bit stress, I thought, not in a very worrying way but he’s finding it hard to ground himself, it’s been a big weekend.Ok I said so what can I do to help him.
Nature that’s what I’m going to do!!!🌊 beach it is.
So off we went.
It was amazing he went from all over the place, to settled and aware, and onto it. He was gentle and soft, he wasn’t hitting people or jumping on anyone. It was like a light switch moment. It was a moment for me too, as I realised that today wasn’t a day for church it was a day when he needed to get dirty and touch different textures, hold craps, play with sticks, and walk in water.he need time just to be, not be quiet and respectable in church but just be himself in nature, where he can make up his play.
It made me understand in that moment, that sometimes adventures are a great way to release stress and carm us down even when we had arranged to go or be somewhere else( in this case church), it really showed me to go with him if I can and the day will take care of itself. We love church and will be back next week and the next, but I now know that if we are not up for such structured activity, then the beach or other activity will be our meditation and relaxation.#relax#kidswithbrains#wellness#parenting#mum
