REBEKAH SMITH ❤💛🖤
MAKEUP ARTIST: ~What is an incident that you were personally involved in, that you know was because of your cultural background?
There’s been a fair few, but I’ll go with the most recent. I was in a clothing store and as I walked in i saw a pair of shoes that took my fancy, i took the shoes to a chair in the store to try on. The shoes were too big, so I walked towards the front of the store to put them back on the shelf. As I was putting them back, the shop assistant literally came running from behind the counter towards me. As she saw me putting them back, she put her hand on her chest with a big sigh of relief and said “ohhh you’re putting them back”. I was actually so shocked and a little embarrassed as other customers were looking. It immediately turned to anger as I realised what was happening, I said "did you think I was going to steal them?” she actually gave a giggle and said “Yeah sorry”, still laughing and with no sincerity at all. I said “do you treat all you customers so poorly? Or just the black ones?Absolutely disgusting service” she didn’t really know what to say, I walked off as I was not in the right state of mind to deal with that issue! I was dressed well, the only difference between me and anybody else in the store was the fact I was Aboriginal, therefore I can without a doubt say it was due to my Aboriginality.
