Adopting a dog.
Yes it can be a difficult process BUT it's worth it. It's a subject a lot of people are talking about and I understand that there are some sad stories of people not getting a dog for whatever reason and you knowing that you would be a perfect home. But what we need to ALWAYS remember that *most* shelters are doing what they believe is best. For me I know I have been so lucky to get both my two from two different shelters, and it was a breeze. It saddens me when I hear about people's bad experiences and that for us they may be silly reasons but again, the shelter is doing what they believe is best! Every shelter is different and maybe learn about how they work before jumping feet first and falling in love with a dog (I know, it's hard). I believe if you are open and honest shelters are respectful and will communicate as best they can. They are super busy looking after animals and they come first, if you don't get a reply, try again! Keep trying until you get one!
I'm rambling now but all I can say is that the stress is worth it. When I was waiting to hear back about getting Cas it took a week for my forms to be sorted and I had to wait three weeks to actually be able to bring him home. All I can say is it was worth it. I was terrified that they would find some reason to say no, that they wouldn't like the stuff I had taught Dusty. That living with my parents would be bad, that him being the third dog in the household would make me fail but in the end I believe everything happens for a reason and Cas thankfully was able to come into my life and now he is teaching me so much!
Also please don't think I am saying anything about breeders. I'm not.
