Happy International Farmer's Day!
I find joy in all I do. If it does not excite me then I let it be. I wear many hats and I know I enjoy farming.
At a meeting with a group recently, one of the men said 'I need to see your Law certificate to believe that you did not read Agric' Indeed I enjoy my 'Law' and I am training to be a Mediator.
I went into organic Agriculture because, I try to maintain a healthy lifestyle (thanks to my parents) and I know our food either heal us or kill us slowly. I did not know I was choosing the hard road.
The road to Agriculture was tough for me and for two years, I did not know what I was doing. Unfortunately, I had an incompetent leadership to match the mess.
Thank goodness, that is in my past. In the last one year, we have made tremendous progress, we thank @ for his tireless effort, we are glad to be a choice farm for contract farming for our clients, we appreciate our weekly family basket customers, we love the fact that it is growing every week, we appreciate @ and especially @ who sold most of our early production even when there was no distinction between organic and inorganic at the time, her customers knew the difference and she encouraged us. Not to forget my main support system, my family, my cheerleaders. To our mentors and mentees, too many to mention but they know. Our interns past and present.
Now, we have more competent and experienced workers joining our team. The workers seem happy, I have peace. The future is looking bright for Ope Farms.
A belief that, a knowledge Centre will one day be built, where everyone who wants to be organic can come to learn and above all that Ope Farms outlives me. This is Grace and I am grateful to the Most High.
