Hi all – happy Waterfall Wednesday! Back in the early 1850s, the Ricketts brothers – Elijah and Clemuel – frequented the Loyalsock region for hunting trips. After years of having to spend their nights on a hotel’s parlor floor, the brothers decided to purchase 5000 acres, including what is now known as Lake Ganoga and part of Ricketts Glen State Park. They built a stone house and planned to use the plot as a private hunting preserve for their family, select guests and would later serve as a base for the Ozone Hiking Club. Amazingly, the majestic glen and waterfalls were not discovered for another 15 years, when two visiting fishermen meandered along the creek and first laid eyes on the many frothy cascades the glen has to offer – and boy, I sure am glad they did!
Here we have a remarkable shot from @saterphotography, featuring Ozone Falls, the second highest falls in the park which is named after the aforementioned hiking club. What is perhaps most impressive about this shot is the composition – Jeremiah manages to capture the entire falls in frame, which can be a daunting task due to its immense height and unique flow pattern. I also love the early summer green hues, the crisp frothy whites and the overall tranquility emanating from the photo.
Thanks so much for tagging us, Jeremiah! Please drop by @saterphotography ‘s page and give him a follow!
