Part 1- Family, Secure Attachment & Sleep, What does the science tell us? ⠀
It tells me that little humans & their sleep are like those super soft, twisty marshmallows! It looks like you can UN-TWIST each one of those long twists to be able to separate those colours & enjoy one long skinny marshmallow at a time! The thing is with those...have you every tried to separate those twists? No matter how careful you are, there’s always part of the other colour that sticks & stretches with it leaving you with a sticky mess. Luckily it’s still yummy 😋 but when you start trying to pick & choose which parts of your baby’s sleep you want to keep & which parts you want to change & leave behind, nature isn’t so forgiving with that puzzle 😣 Picking & choosing will only create more imbalances which then tend to become magnified over short periods of time. In my experience, this will then often lead to more & more sleep deficits for the entire family caused by your baby needing more and more help to actually get and stay asleep. When there is one imbalance the body tries to over compensate somewhere else which in turn creates new imbalances. Pretty similar to a sticky mess for me 😝 as with everything in life, it is ticking the right boxes first keeping a little human body in rhythm in their day that will bring sleep through the night. This includes the usual feeding and wake / sleep hours that most sleep consultants will cover with you but those are not my sole focus. I work with you on ways to connect on a deeper level with your baby helping you all harness nature’s rhythms, all the puzzle pieces together to bring on the 💤 ⠀
