A video recorded by a 10-year-old boy shows the brutality of a father-son duo, who killed a stray dog in the most inhuman manner in east Delhi's Gandhi Nagar area on Sunday.
The boy is traumatised after witnessing the incident and is questioning the mindset of people. The stray was beaten to death because it used to bark incessantly day and night. After recording the video on his father"s mobile, he somehow managed to contact an animal welfare member to seek police help.
An FIR was registered at Gandhi Nagar police station and they were arrested by Delhi Police on Tuesday evening.
Satpal Chaudhary, a resident of Gandhi Nagar, overpowered a white stray dog right outside his residence in the narrow lane.
He got hold of the stray with the help of a wooden stick. More than 10 people passed by the scene of act but none stopped the man. Minutes later, Chaudhary's son, Tarun came out with a large wooden plank. He attacked the dog held captive by his father.
He hit him on its head more than seven times until it died.
A case is registered under Section 428 (mischief by killing or maiming animal of the value of Rs 10), 429 (mischief by killing or maiming cattle, etc., of any value or any animal of the value of Rs 50) and 34( acts done by several people in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code and section 11 (treating animals cruelly) of the Prevention of Animal Cruelty Act.
If sources are to be believed, the culprits who killed the dog have bribed police officials with Rs 70,000 so that they don't take any action against them. However, police denied the allegation saying that the investigation is underway.
