Let's talk about #bodycomposition for #wellnesswednesday 💪🏻
Left: My goal was to get lean and weigh less for pool auditions, so I upped my cardio and drove my calories down to 1200.
Right: My goal this summer was to see how strong I could get. I upped my calories, allowed myself to have treat meals, wine (and chicken wings) 😂
Greatly reduced the cardio, and started lifing very heavy.
And guess what, it worked! If you swipe I have posted my #bodycompositionanalysis in an effort to be transparent (which also takes some courage).
You can see that yes, I put on weight. But the weight is in the form of muscle and water. Our muscles are 75% water so if you gain muscle, you will naturally hold more water. Which is why I look less shredded in the left photo.
Body fat % went down because I lost 2lb fat and gained 5lb muscle
BMI went up, but this is ok because the weight is from muscle.
BMR went up so I get to eat more calories to feed my muscle!
Hopefully you can see why taking into account only 1 metric such as just weighing yourself, or just BMI or BF% doesn't work. You have to take into account all of these metrics to get an accurate picture of how you are changing.
I even take measurements of my body so that I know exactly where I'm gaining and losing.
So I encourage you to get an InBody scan if you have access to one. And if you don't there's nothing wrong with good old fashioned progress photos!
BUT if I would have looked solely at these photos, I would have been discouraged, thinking that I had gotten fat, but bringing in the scan numbers showed me that I actually accomplished my goal of gaining muscle.
Bottom line: set your own goals, follow your own journey, and gather your own data. #fitnessmodel #tattoomodel #girlswithtattoos #girlswholift #fitspo #fatloss #bodypositive #amandabo #tattoos #ink #inkedup #legsleevetattoo #legsleeve #legsleeves #girlswithtattoos #girlswithmuscle #girlswholift #healthcoach #personaltrainer #wellnesscoach #wellnessjourney #fatloss #fitspo
