Red and yellow lentil dahl
With fresh, local ingredients slow cooked in fragrant blends of warming spices, curries are perfect for warming you up from the inside in cold weather.
This fragrant organic dahl contains fresh curry leaves, mustard seeds, tumeric, ginger, onion, garlic, corriander, chilli. Together, these ingredients help to strengthen yang energy and warm your body, circulate qi and blood and get rid of phlegm from a traditional Chinese medicine perspective. The lentils help to strengthen qi and are an excellent source of folate and a very good source of dietary fibre, copper, phosphorus and manganese. They also provide iron, protein, vitamins B1 and B6, pantothenic acid, zinc and potassium.
Curries are great for those with regular signs of coldness according to traditional Chinese medicine (such as cold body, hands and feet, dislike of cold, attraction to warm climates, food and drink, pale complexion, intense and fixed pain that is worse in cold weather). Curries and other warming, spicy foods should be minimised or avoided if you commonly have signs of heat (such as feeling hot and disliking heat, easily sweating, preferring cold food and climates, red face and eyes, regular nosebleeds, red and dry skin rashes and eruptions).
