Anger has touched on my world for long as I can remember, both passively and very actively ⚔️ It is frightening to contemplate the magnitude and ripple effect of anger as it is one of the most destructive forces in the universe. ☠️ Some people say that's a person's true character shows when they are angry. I couldn't disagree more.🙅🏻 I believe anger is an outpouring of fear, hurt and/ or frustration from someone who doesn't have the tools to process those feelings another way. I don't think we are ever our true selves in anger. 🙇🏻♀️ Anger as a lack of self control suggests that our complex mix of emotions are being forcibly manipulated - pulled and pushed into self control to their ultimate tensile strength and so being constantly being on the verge of breaking. 💥
Conversely peace comes from deep inside as a relaxed state of being where there is no tension to our emotions, simply a vast open plain in which our sense of inner balance ⚖️ is not affected by the actions and reactions of others. 💫 #lifegoals
Recently, I was faced with the anger of another person. I stayed calm and level and remained open to the situation around me. It wasn't easy and took a lot of silent breathing, but I have a clear conscious knowing that I did not use the 'viper tongue' 🐍 that would have been my reaction previously. That doesn't mean I wasn't hurt by the words said to me💔, but I have learnt that there is no point in hanging on to those feelings - there is nothing to be gained from them.🙏🏻 I have done a lot of self reflection around anger, fear and hurt over the years 🕊I have spent some time since processing the emotions and the circumstances that were at play in this case. I came to the following conclusion (with a bit of help from the love of my life @willsmith)... It is not our FAULT if we do not have the tools to manage our anger and frustration peacefully, but it is our RESPONSIBILITY to learn that shit and help our children learn it too, not only for our own inner peace but for the rest of the world too.
And, in the wise words of Maya Angelou... 'Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better'. Happy Monday lovers 💜
