Nunca me canso de decir lo importante que es preguntar a tu coach (si es que no lo ha explicado) o si no tienes muy claro, cuál es el objetivo del Wod? Are you even leg pressing if you don’t stick some band tension on? ◾️ First time banding up the leg press and it definitely felt better than not. ◾️ I’m not a big leg press fan I feel my range is limited but it removes some lower back loading and gets some quad dominant volume in my training. ◾️ These next 4-6 weeks of training is just about building up some training volume and resting a few niggles. ◾️ Going into a powerlifting comp intensity is so high but volume is very low!! Jumping straight upto my required volume would leave me in a pit of fatigue! This is all about setting myself up for solid future blocks.

Fuck I used to be skinny 👀. •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• Exactly three years ago (Aug 2015), weighed about 195lbs. Wasn’t doing Strongman yet, just flipping tires for fun. Started doing real Strongman training and my first comp in July of 2016. Definitely come a long way... just flipped this 800lb tire 10 times in 35 seconds at Sask’s Strongest Man and I’m about 55lbs heavier!

Nel complesso mondo scientifico-sportivo è molto facile, per chi è alle prime armi, confondere alcuni termini che, a primo impatto, possano sembrare simili. E’ il caso dell’allenabilità che non va confuso con l’allenamento. Per spiegare il primo, però, facciamo un chiarimento sul secondo. Nel linguaggio corrente per allenamento si intende un processo di esercitazione che tende a migliorare un settore ben specifico. Nel concetto di sport si va ad allenare qualsiasi obiettivo che possa migliorare la prestazione di un atleta: fisico-energetica, coordinativa, tattica, cognitiva, visiva, psichica e tante altre ancora. Jurgen Weineck descrive così l’allenamento sportivo: “Processo d’azione complesse che si pone lo scopo di influire, in modo pianificato e rivolto ad un oggetto (specifico), sullo stato (livello) di prestazione sportiva e sulla capacità di realizzare nel migliore dei modi possibili la prestazione in situazioni di competizione”. L’allenabilità non è altro che il grado di adattamento ai carichi di allenamento. E’ un parametro che dipende sia da fattori endogeni (età, sesso, costituzione…) e da quelli esogeni. In modo generico possiamo dire, per esempio, che l’età infantile è un periodo di elevatissima allenabilità, in particolar modo per le capacità coordinative, mentre in adolescenza e prima età adulta riguarda lo sviluppo/miglioramento delle capacità condizionali. Tutto ciò dipende dalle cosiddette “Fasi sensibili” di Martin che andremo a studiare nei prossimi articoli.

Does anyone else live for arm days? I absolutely LOVE bis and tris, but they've never been my strongest muscle groups. Even after years of lifting, I've only recently revealed both biceps heads and a tiny baby vein is sprouting on my right side 😏My family is blessed (or cursed, depending on how you look at it) with super short bicep attachments, which makes my bicep peak much higher than it would be with attachments closer to the joint. Thanks dad! Archimedes said, "Give me a lever long enough... and I shall move the world." Well, unfortunately, my levers are NOT long enough so world-moving is a little bit harder for me 😅 In the meantime, I'll keep working on my weaknesses and making the most of their aesthetic benefits 😁 .. Who else has genetic weaknesses/strengths that they hate or love? Literally everyone has some of both! Do you actively avoid training those areas at the gym and hit your strong muscle groups far more often? Do you let your genetics tell you "that's just the way I am" and settle for less than what you want? Archimedes was smart and used a fulcrum and a lever as a tool, but he also told us to rise above ourselves and grab the world (loose paraphrase) so get it out of your head that you can't improve and turn your worst weakness into your greatest success! ..
