fun fact, i’m allergic to the cold. funny right? so is everyone? no really. when i was in my early twenties i started breaking out in hives that looked more like boils. first it was occasionally, pretty soon it was daily. not just talking full body but on my face as well. two years later after a million doctors, allergy specialists, you name it i tried it, i found a naturopath who looked at me and said oh of course, cold induced urticaria. an allergy that i will most likely have for life, weakens the immune system and makes me layer up far more than the average human. cold hurts, quite literally. and in some cases like swimming in cold water, it could actually be the end of me.
i love my routine of daily workouts and eating clean for sure. but the fact of the matter is i have to do it. over the years i have found it is the one and only thing that slows down my reactions to the inevitable cold that is the world we live in. the better i am to myself, the less likely i am to erupt in boils. (gnarly i know.) the truth is that it’s been such a blessing in disguise as my self care routine now is non negotiable. what keeps you motivated to take good care of yourself?
